Raba Kistner is seeking an experienced Special Projects Leader in the Gulf Coast, TX area who will be primarily responsible for overseeing a multidisciplinary team and managing the engineering and design of Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) related projects, alongside other innovative services. This role is pivotal in expanding our offerings and establishing a strong presence in the market. Other responsibilities include:
- Lead the development and management of assigned projects focusing on trenchless engineering design and permitting.
- Utilize a risk-based approach to engineering, incorporating geotechnical surveys, HDD engineering and design, and regulatory permitting.
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative risk analyses to ensure project success.
- Manage UAV services including construction monitoring/inspection, pre/post construction mapping
- Coordinate with in-house support teams specializing in geotechnical engineering, materials laboratory services, drilling, and environmental assessments.
- Liaise with subcontractors and partners for survey, pipeline risk assessment, general civil engineering, and location-dependent drilling services.
- Ensure data management and quality control for design and construction data, planning, and risk management.
- Oversee the feasibility, planning, and execution of trenchless design and construction projects.
- Provide field support and expertise as needed to ensure projects are executed at the highest quality in a safe manner
- Establish strong relationships with clients to secure project contracts.
- Manage project timelines and budgets, ensuring deliverables are met within client expectations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must have Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 10 years of relatable experience managing drilling and/or geotechnical projects
- Possess a current valid state issued driver’s license and meet company's auto insurability requirements
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). Ability to multitask and possess excellent, recording, organizational, and judgment skills. Ability to read and understand instructions, labels, reports, etc. Ability to effectively communicate information both written and oral and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, general public and other employees of the organization. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Work environment includes potential exposure to movement of heavy equipment on construction or roadway sites; potential exposure to hazardous dangerous chemicals and solvents, noise, dust, fumes, grease and oils, radiant and electrical energy, and vibration; all of which would require employee to follow implement and follow proper safety procedures and utilize appropriate protective equipment. Noise level for this position is moderate.
This position may require protracted or irregular hours. Flexibility to work irregular hours is necessary due to client needs.
