Title: Family Resource Center (FRC) Program Assistant

Earnings: $14.00 per hour
Be part of a great team supporting a great program for our community familiesThis position is responsible for assisting the FRC Program Coordinator with facilitating parent/child interactive experiences during Family Resource Center (FRC) daytime Drop-In, possible occasional weekends and evenings, and other FRC programming as well as providing educational and developmentally appropriate workshops. This is a part-time position, 20 hours per week, and requires a flexible schedule in order to staff our Drop-in and afterschool crew programming and requires working at least one Saturday every other month for Saturday Drop-in Programming. This position is not eligible for health insurance plans, however all COA staff have Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and Retirement Plan benefits.
Work Schedule:
Fall through Spring: September 1 through May 31. Drop-in is from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. from Monday through Friday and after school crew from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Summer Program: June 1 through August 31. Drop-in is from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Saturdays: at least once every other month and as needed from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Main Job Responsibilities
- Assist in implementing developmentally appropriate programming and structure to the Family Drop-In and other FRC programming, encouraging family input with direction from FRC Coordinator.
- Provide ongoing support, guidance, resources, and referrals to parents as needed.
- Serve as a role model for positive parent/child interaction.
- Develop and maintain appropriate professional relationships and boundaries with parents and children.
- Maintain the FRC to provide a clean, safe, comfortable, welcoming and homelike atmosphere. Keep inventory of equipment and supplies.
- Assist in preparation of art project and other daily activities.
- Record keeping, filing and data entry as needed.
- Seek out and maintain current resources, keep up with industry knowledge in child development and family dynamics.
- Attend FRC Family Camp as needed.
- Provide assistance for program evaluation for grant reporting.
- Provide childcare during parent workshops as needed.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Some course work in Early Childhood Education, Human Services, or related preferred
- Experience working with diverse children birth to 5 and their families in a structured environment
- Belief in positive and strength-based child guidance
- Patience, positive attitude, cultural competency, and strong communication skills
- Able to maintain confidentiality with respect for families
- The physical requirements are the ability to sit and stand for long periods of time, move up to 20 pounds, and the ability to physically engage with program participants.
