Shipping/Receiving Clerk

Monday - Thursday, 6:00am-4:30pm | $17-19/hr DOE


A leading plastic manufacturing company, is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Shipping and Receiving Clerk to join their team. In this full-time position, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that all incoming and outgoing shipments are handled efficiently and accurately. The ideal candidate will have experience in shipping and receiving, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Shipping Coordination: Prepare and process outgoing shipments, including packaging, labeling, and arranging transportation. Ensure that all shipments are accurately documented and comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Receiving Duties: Inspect and receive incoming shipments, verifying quantities and conditions against purchase orders and packing lists. Report any discrepancies or damage to the appropriate departments.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of inventory levels, including tracking stock movements and updating inventory databases. Assist with periodic inventory counts and reconciliation.
  • Documentation: Complete and maintain accurate shipping and receiving documentation, including bills of lading, shipping manifests, and inspection reports.
  • Organization and Storage: Organize and store received materials and products in designated areas. Ensure that the warehouse and shipping/receiving areas are clean and well-organized.
  • Communication: Collaborate with other departments, including production, sales, and purchasing, to coordinate shipments and resolve any issues related to shipping and receiving.
  • Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines, including proper handling of materials and use of personal protective equipment. Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by addressing any issues or inquiries related to shipments and deliveries in a timely and professional manner.


Requirements:

  • Proven experience in shipping and receiving, preferably within a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to operate shipping and receiving equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks (certification preferred but not required).
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite and inventory management software.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with team members and other departments.
  • Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs. regularly.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

* Contact carrier representatives to make arrangements or to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials.
* Determine shipping methods, routes, or rates for materials to be shipped.
* Compute amounts, such as space available, shipping, storage, or demurrage charges, using computer or price list.
* Compare shipping routes or methods to determine which have the least environmental impact.
