Title: Intermediate Database Administrator (DBA)/Database Management Specialist

Personnel Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related degree in the IT field or equivalent experience.
  • At least five (5) years of experience with Database Administration for application or technologies according to task order specifications.
  • At least five (5) years of experience in full SDLC for IT projects.

Capabilities

  • Provides highly technical expertise in the use of DBMS. Evaluates and recommends available DBMS products to support validated user requirements. Defines file organization, indexing methods and security procedures for specific user applications.
  • The ability to participate with TS teams in the software development life cycle for financials application, data warehouse, business intelligence, and other applications supported by TS.
  • The ability to upgrade database (e.g., Oracle databases to 12g and higher).
  • The ability to upgrade financials, HR, and CRM applications.
  • The ability to apply Quarterly CPU’s, Family packs and one-off patches to databases and applications.
  • The ability to understand and implement Oracle’s Cloud and Fusion Architecture wherever applicable on per need basis.
  • The ability to understand and implement best practices for Oracle database and application.
  • Strong skills in database performance tuning and SQL tuning.
  • Good understanding of the database architecture (e.g., Oracle 12g) and the various Application tier and database tier components: underlying objects, schemas/products, database objects, file system structure, tables, views, packages, procedures, sequences, indexes, and constraints.
  • Define and manage database and applications security.
  • The ability to provide administration, maintenance and migrations for Oracle databases.
  • Strong skills in how to secure database and applications.
  • The ability to provide back-up and recovery services for Oracle databases and applications.
  • The ability to understand Oracle database and application. architecture to provide performance tuning services when needed.
  • The ability to clone Oracle databases and applications.
  • The ability to troubleshoot database and application issues, when coming from the DBA and application DBA areas.
  • The ability to understand disaster recovery principles and performing disaster recovery when applicable.
  • The ability to participate and provide expertise in system capacity planning efforts.
  • The ability to write UNIX shell programs to automate DBA tasks
  • The ability to develop solutions with team members to implement previously defined and documented requirements.

  • Use strong skills in database security.

  • Provide database performance tuning and SQL performance tuning.

  • Troubleshoot database issues.
  • Understand disaster recovery principles and performing disaster recovery when applicable.
  • Participate and provide expertise in system capacity planning efforts.
  • Write UNIX shell programs to automate DBA tasks.

  • Participate with TS teams in the software development life cycle for ERP systems such as PeopleSoft HCM, Workday or other HCM and CRM applications, Data Warehouse, and other applications supported by TS.
  • Upgrade and maintain databases.
  • Upgrade and maintain HCM or CRM applications.
  • Apply Quarterly CPU’s, Bundle fixes and Tax Updates to database and Application.
  • Understand and implement Oracle’s Fusion and Cloud. Architecture wherever applicable on per need basis.
  • Understand and implement best practices for Oracle database and ERP systems such as PeopleSoft Application.
  • Provide administration, maintenance, performance tuning and troubleshooting for Oracle databases and applications.
  • Strong skills in database and application security.
