Summary:


Country Club of Detroit is looking for a dedicated and compassionate individual with a strong passion for early childhood care to be our Child Watch Attendant in our Fitness Center. Our Child Watch Attendant will be responsible for maintaining a fun and safe environment while enforcing appropriate behavior for our member’s children.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Maintain positive relationship with parents (members) and children; such as providing comfort for upset children
  • Provide careful, attentive supervision and be alert at all times.
  • Interact verbally and physically with children
  • Keep supplies organized and accessible
  • Supervise games, activities and the care of toys and equipment
  • Facilitate an environment that invites exploration, promotes positive play, and welcomes children.
  • Inspect play area for foreign objects that could potentially cause injury
  • Enforce safety rules; such as contacting parents if child is ill
  • Assist children in self-care activities; such as restroom breaks
  • Ensure cleanliness of all toys and childcare area; such as periodic cleaning, disinfecting, and vacuuming
  • Prepare and organize mealtimes and snacks/water for children
  • Maintain schedules and routines for children; such as putting children down for daily nap
  • Practice patience and be able to respond calmly to overwhelming and difficult situations


Minimum Skills & Qualifications:

  • Daycare/Child Watch Certification preferred
  • CPR certification required
  • 3 years of child watch experience preferred


Working Conditions:

  • Indoors
  • Potential exposure to loud noise
  • Essential physical requirements include standing, sitting, bending, twisting
  • Standing = 60% of time
  • Sitting = 30% of time
  • Bending/Twisting/Kneeling = 10% of time
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds
  • Child Watch Center Hours: Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
