JOB SUMMARY:


A key member of the Community Engagement and Professional Studies Team at NEC, the Teaching Artistry and CEPS Coordinator provides overall administrative support for NEC’s flagship Teaching Artistry programming, as well as the associated Community Engagement and Professional Studies Department. This position is responsible for managing administrative logistics related to the Teaching Artistry and Music Education Concentration, as well the Teaching Artistry@NEC Workshop Series, including data tracking, marketing, and web invoicing. In addition to providing administrative assistance for the CEPS Department overall, the TA/CEPS Coordinator will work alongside the CPP Team to provide support for NEC’s well-established partnership programming within the Boston community through NEC’s Community Performances and Partnerships (CPP) Program, a nationally recognized collegiate community engagement and teaching artist program.


This is a grant-funded, full-time academic year position (44 weeks, M-F, occasional evening/weekend) with some limited flexibility for hybrid work. The individual in this role reports to the Dean and Chair of Community Engagement and Professional Studies (CEPS) and works closely with the CPP Team.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide administrative support for NEC’s Teaching Artistry Programming and the associated activities of the Community Engagement and Professional Studies Department.

  • Assist the Assistant Dean of Community Engagement and Teaching Artistry with all aspects of administration of the Teaching Artistry and Music Education Concentration, including record keeping, payments, production of marketing material, assistance with event planning, data collection and evaluation.

  • Manage marketing, payments, registration, communication, and other administration of the Teaching Artistry@NEC Workshop Series.

  • Manage scheduling and logistical coordination of NEC’s CEPS Scholar in Residence.

  • Support the CPP Administrative Director as needed in management of office logistics for CPP and the CEPS Team.

  • Help coordinate the scheduling and logistical details of programs in Boston partner community venues; facilitate relationships with CPP’s network of community partners as needed.

  • Prepare, transport, supervise, and evaluate NEC students at CPP events in select community settings.

  • Provide logistical support and attend student professional development events.

  • Organize and develop student resources and educational materials.

  • Maintain departmental databases and calendar of events; support program marketing efforts.

  • Assist the Administrative Director of CPP and Dean of CEPS with ongoing evaluation of the CPP program and grant applications.

  • Serve as an ambassador for the CEPS department and for NEC within and outside of NEC’s walls.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of professional experience required.

  • Master’s degree or higher strongly preferred, ideally in Music Education, Performance, or Arts Administration.

  • Detail oriented with an ability to handle complex scheduling and organizational situations.

  • Strong administrative ability to articulate and realize concrete measures for implementing the work of a strategic vision.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to manage a range of tasks simultaneously.

  • The ability to take initiative in order to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team.

  • Strong organizational, writing, and computer skills required.

  • Familiarity with the field of Teaching Artistry.

  • Background and interest in K-12 classroom teaching, music education, and musical engagement in community environments is helpful.

  • Experience with event planning, particularly in schools and community settings.

  • Familiarity with partnership building in urban schools and community settings; ability to navigate sensitive and nuanced long-term partnerships is essential.

  • A high degree of emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills required, along with the ability to interact with people from a wide range of backgrounds.

  • Familiarity with Survey Monkey, Mailchimp, and social media platforms is helpful.

  • Preferred: Possess a valid driver’s license, have a clean driving record, and be comfortable driving in Boston (not necessary to own a car).
