SUMMARY

The Senior Accountant is responsible for properly performing various financial tasks related to the Accounting Department in accordance with established policies, procedures, and controls.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinates month-end closing processes and ensures entries are completed accurately.
  • Reconciles bank accounts monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
  • Prepares accurate journal entries reflecting proper accrual basis accounting.
  • Conducts research of general ledger variances and corrects postings.
  • Reconciles accounts receivable balances and provides balance sheet account reconciliations to management.
  • Accounts for and post electronic transactions and receipts.
  • Prepares monthly sales and service tax returns for tribal, federal, and state reporting.
  • Ensures accuracy and completeness of fixed assets records including depreciation.
  • Assists with internal and external audits.
  • Works the required schedule while physically onsite to interact personally with Team Members and others.
  • Maintains the highest level of confidentiality.
  • Must be able to maintain appropriate Gaming License.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

  • Associates degree in Accounting preferred. Three to five years of experience in Accounting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Gaming related auditing experience preferred but not required.
  • Must possess effective communication and organizational skills.
  • Must be computer-literate with proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Must have strong typing and 10-key skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents and reports.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or questions from leaders and others within the company.
  • Ability to effectively present and explain information to others in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out a variety of instructions furnished in oral, written or diagram form.
  • Must be 21 years of age.

  • This position is in an office setting and requires the ability to be at a desk for the majority of the workday.
  • Uses hands to manipulate and sort documentation, paperwork and use office equipment, including keyboard and computer.
  • Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
  • Infrequent lifting required up to 20 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Sound levels within the office are normally low. May be required to access the casino daily where the noise level in the work environment may be loud.
