Medefy is hiring a part-time Benefits Navigation Specialists.

The work shift is M-F, 7PM-11 PM. Remote enabled.

Training for the role is M-F, 8AM - 5PM for at least 4 weeks.

Pay for Training: $15 p/hr | Pay once fully trained: $21 p/hr.

Join the mission-driven team at Medefy Health as a Benefits Navigation Specialist (BNS). In this vital role, you'll help simplify and navigate the complexities of healthcare benefits for our members. You'll provide top-notch support via email, phone, and chat, ensuring that members understand and make the most of their benefits. Your primary responsibilities include guiding members to low-cost, high-quality doctors and facilities, addressing benefits/claims/pharmacy/healthcare questions, and delivering a seamless, stress-free healthcare experience.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Member Support: Provide friendly, timely (within 2 minutes), and HIPAA-compliant responses to member inquiries via email, phone, or chat.
  • Benefit Guidance: Educate members about their benefits, health insurance coverage, and other related topics, ensuring they fully understand and can effectively use their plans.
  • Claims Assistance: Assist members with benefits claim issues and plan changes, acting as a direct point of contact for both members and providers.
  • Navigation Support: Help members find suitable doctors, clinics, and other healthcare facilities, and support them in scheduling appointments and closing gaps in care.
  • Communication: Address inquiries from members, HR departments, pharmacies, and providers about mail order services, benefit design, formulary coverage, medication costs, prior authorization criteria, and claims adjudication.
  • Quality Assurance: Contribute to meeting operational and productivity standards by conducting quality reviews of member interactions and documentation to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Platform Proficiency: Stay updated with Medefy software platform tools, client health plans, and relevant healthcare information.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other Medefy departments to ensure members have a successful healthcare journey.
  • Follow-Up: Ensure members had a pleasant encounter and successful outcome by following up on their interactions.
  • Professional Service: Deliver above-and-beyond service and professionalism in every member interaction.
  • Referral Coordination: Create referrals for the Referral Coordinators to process.
  • Other Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Preferred Education: Associate's or bachelor's degree.
  • Experience: 1-2 years in healthcare, benefits administration, or related fields.
  • Skills: Detail-oriented, adaptable, critical thinker with a genuine desire to enhance patients' healthcare experiences. Familiarity with benefits designs.
  • Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills in English, with proficiency in real-time text-based communication.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office, apps, and instant messaging.
  • Typing Speed: At least 50 words per minute.
  • Knowledge: General knowledge of the healthcare ecosystem and trends.
  • Personality: Friendly and helpful, with a relentlessly inquisitive nature and a professional demeanor.
  • Availability: Willingness to cover night and weekend shifts if required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field.
  • Certification: SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or HRCI Professional in Human Resources (PHR).
  • Experience: 2+ years in health insurance or benefits fields (e.g., health brokerage, insurance, benefits advisory).
  • Language Skills: Bilingual - verbal and written proficiency in Spanish.
  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of health insurance processes, claims processing, and healthcare referral management practices.
