PURPOSE:


The Community Engagement Manager position exists to launch and implement an on-going calendar of networking and philanthropic events, strategic volunteer initiatives, peer-to-peer and b2b engagements, while also assisting in the necessary operational and departmental functions to ensure acquisition and development of lead targets are achieved. The position ensures that the name, brand, recognition, and knowledge of the mission of Thompson is dramatically increased through partnerships and community initiatives. The role will serve as the primary connection through any and all department and community initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Display individual proficiency and effectiveness in the role

  • Display trauma informed practices and principles in your interactions with customers, with peers and with leadership
  • Manage a portfolio of expanding community and corporate volunteer and engagement initiatives, including but not limited to on-site and off-site individual and corp. one-time engagements, recurring volunteer initiatives, fundraising events, educational and informative community events, asset partnership events, and local community lead events.
  • Responsible for a minimum of 2 coordinated corporate engagement opportunities per month, a minimum of 12 asset package events (sports games, entertainment events, etc.), and a minimum of 2 large community sponsored events, i.e. large fundraising gala.
  • Demonstrated ability establishing and maintaining relationships with community partners, corporate and individual donors and volunteer.
  • Attend scheduled events both in-person or virtual when required and oversee/assist all necessary details that involve working with partners, managing registration, coordinating and directing volunteers, interacting with identified or promising lead donors/partners, representing the mission of Thompson, and interacting with clients when appropriate.
  • Establish relationships with corporate partner representatives and push prospective partners and donors to the appropriate members of RD team.
  • Design and implement effective solicitation strategies, managing prospect relationships to enhance first-time, continued or increased monetary support, with oversight by the Director of Development.
  • Work within the approved department budgets to manage events and hit targeted solicitation and philanthropic goals.
  • Strategically participate in business/social networking/community events to build relationships and create more market awareness.
  • Travel as needed for volunteer engagements, corporate partnership events, and Thompson asset events.
  • Assist and support the planning and coordination of any special events throughout the fiscal year.
  • With support of RD team and program leaders, create and implement and additional 10-15 recurring volunteer activities for the greater community.
  • With Community Engagement Manager and Chief Development Officer, prepare and execute any corporate and community engagement events with partners resulting in corporate philanthropic gifts.


Requirements:


POSITION SPECIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:

  • Excellent Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have a valid Driver License and meet any credentialing, licensing and privileging standards as it pertains to the department you are in.
  • Education requirement for this individual contributor role is: BA/BS Degree
  • Position is Hybrid/Remote, but you must reside in Charlotte area

A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in non-profit development or professional workplace environment with at least 2 years of event and volunteer coordination OR work in hospitality preferred.

  • Sound analytical skills and above average computer knowledge;
  • Ability to verbally communicate mission and vision of programs at a high level upon start date.
  • Ability to work flexible job hours, with nights and weekends on occasion.
  • Sales Experience a plus, but not required
