DV - Safehouse Site Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY: The Domestic Violence Safehouse Site Supervisor will oversee the day-to-day operations to ensure the safety and health of Sister Me Home, BF Domestic Violence Safe House, including all Resident Advocate staff that work at the site. Under the supervision of the DV Services Director, the DV Safehouse Site Coordinator will carry out policies that are in line with Alameda County shelter standards, including assist in drafting/updating protocols that is trauma-informed in practice yet consistent in ensuring the safety and health of all residents and staff in a communal shelter setting. This position will provide ongoing support and supervision of the daily operations to serve the needs of survivors of domestic violence, from crisis to increased options towards housing. The DV Safehouse Site Coordinator must be flexible in their work and schedule and is supportive in their interaction with staff and clients. This person must be genuine in leadership style, detail-oriented, organized, skilled in facilities management, conflict management, professional in written and verbal communication, and be able to perform with multiple interruptions and multitask projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
· Uphold the highest standards of professionalism (while maintaining personal/professional boundaries) for the site, representing the agency in the response and interaction with staff and clients.
· Train, support, supervise and foster leadership among Resident Advocate (RA) staff at SMH.
· Support and provide on call back up scheduling and shifts for staff.
· Develop strong engaging methods of delivery of services for Domestic Violence victims, while understanding the sensitivity necessary in serving families who have experienced domestic violence and complex trauma.
· Remain current on domestic violence best practices and the resources available for safe house residents, make sure to keep clients and staff well informed.
· Maintain overall health and safety of the domestic violence safe house through a trauma informed care approach (educating staff consistently).
· Uphold ethics and confidentiality of the safe house.
· Build community relationships on behalf of the site.
· Facilitate regular weekly safe house staff meetings.
· Partner with BF Facilities Manager on needed site repairs and maintenance as well as coordinate any work that needs to be completed on site by contractors and volunteers.
· Participate in weekly supervision with Director.
· Provide regular bi-monthly supervision meetings w/ RAs.
· Ensure monthly client calendar is created, updated, and distributed to clients and entire DV team to encourage clients to participate in program activities, including activities led by staff around healthy relationships, housing support, self-empowerment, caregiver support around the impact of DV on kids etc.
· Responsible for ensuring SMH staff meets all required deliverables, including data requirements by funder weekly and monthly.
· Responsible for ensuring facility is compliant with shelter standards and be ready for regular on-site audits.
RESPONSIBILITIES FOR OPERATIONS AND SERVICE DELIVERY:
- Work with Human Resources to hire and onboard staff.
- Determine staff training needs of SMH staff and arrange for training.
- Respond to any emergency situations at the site as needed and participate in on-call emergencies.
- Create and maintain 24-hour RA and on-call operations schedule for SMH.
- Draft and document all protocols of the operations, service delivery, staff collaboration and scheduling, on call, and volunteer participation of SMH safe house. Protocols will be discussed regularly with the leadership team and will be stored in the DV Services drive for easy access.
- Facilitate or co-facilitate bimonthly and oversee regular SMH team meetings involving RAs.
- Create and update RA workplans.
- Regularly attend collaborative meetings and maintain partnerships with community agencies.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIRED:
Required Qualification:
- Minimum of four years working with issues of Domestic Violence and a record of successfully facilitating change and/or innovation in the Domestic Violence or related field. Plus, two-three years’ experience in homelessness, substance abuse, mental health, and child abuse.
- Knowledge of Domestic Violence dynamics & Alameda County resources for domestic violence and homeless and other underserved populations.
- Supervising staff/ Project management/Organizational management/Communication/ Conflict-management skills are a must in this position
- Full ability to initiate and administer the oversight of RA staff and service delivery at our 20-bed Domestic Violence safe house.
- Skilled at interacting in a supportive and professional manner with a diverse population of women and children.
- Able to perform repetitive office tasks (such as data management, updating forms, filing, copying, etc.)
- Valid California Driver’s License and access to personal automobile.
- Ability to work with immigrant communities a plus.
- Experience with federal grant programs funding Domestic Violence work.
- Experience maintaining personal/professional boundaries.
Preferred Qualification:
- Certification as Certified Domestic Violence Counselor (training offered soon after hire if needed).
- Minimum of two years’ experience in staff management and/or supervision experience.
- Express a commitment to the empowerment of women and children.
- Bilingual/bicultural a plus.
- Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills are essential.
- Experienced in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and demonstrated familiarity with data collection and statistical reports.
Other Skills and Abilities:
- A collaborative style that is both open to input, constructive feedback, responsive to concerns and suggestions, and proactive and clear in communicating and making decisions.
- The willingness and ability to learn about any of the above, and the initiative to obtain needed training and expertise.
- Ability to move up and down stairs in safe house facility.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift from floor, including moving children or items up to but not limited to 40 lbs.
