Orbital Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Part-Time Report Writer to support our Hammond, IN office. A successful candidate will develop technical reports based on the field information gathered by the inspection crews. This includes developing sketches to locate deficiencies and ensuring that all proper documentation and photos from the field inspection are uploaded in the appropriate location of the report. Candidates must be prepared to readily accept these requirements and will be properly trained to write reports and work at customer sites. This is a part-time position that will average between 10-20 hours per week. This role can be done remotely or in our Hammond, IN Office. There is potential for this role to become a full-time position based on future workload.

Essential duties and responsibilities of the Report Writer include:

  • Organize and prioritize field notes, photos, checklists, safety paperwork, and other documents.
  • Ensure proper filing in project folders and maintain an organized process.
  • Review field notes and reports to ensure accuracy.
  • Develop inspection reports based on field data/information.
  • Engage in verbal and written communication with field inspectors to gather and clarify information.
  • Follow Orbital's process requirements and standards for report development.
  • Create sketches in AutoCAD or directly on the inspection database and mark the location of the deficiencies.
  • Work with all office location managers and aid with their report writing needs.
  • Prioritize the report writing efforts and ensure completion and quality of the reports as defined in the proposal.
  • Proficient with computer and/or tablet use in office and field.
  • Be available to support emergency jobs that will have less than 24-hour notice.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma
