GJR seeks an experienced billing specialist.

Summary of the Position: The full-time Billing Specialist is responsible for the oversight of the billing process, to complete billing in a timely manner, and to secure accurate and timely payments for services.

This position is required to work 40 hours per week M-F 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.). This is an office-based position.

Duties and Responsibilities

Description of Duty

Billing

  • Complete billing in a timely manner. This includes reviewing and processing bills for insurance claims.
  • Collaborate with third parties to resolve billing errors and inconsistencies.
  • Submit corrected claims, reconsiderations, and appeals as necessary.
  • Create invoices and billing materials and distribute as needed to secure payment.
  • Input payment history
  • Assess and investigate payment issues and errors.
  • Review outstanding aging reports.
  • Responsible for timely Medicaid, County, and Contract-related billing.

Communication

  • Communicate billing issues/omissions/errors in a timely manner to the Controller.
  • Work closely with insurance companies and provider representatives to secure proper payment.
  • Communicate payment or denials that impact revenue to finance leadership.
  • Communicate accounts receivable collections and complete billing tasks in order to meet assigned billing outcomes.

Eligibility Review

  • Verify insurance eligibility for persons served.

Collaboration

  • Collaborate with direct care staff, administration, and leadership to clarify issues and obtain additional information.

Other

  • Attend weekly departmental meetings
  • Meet all annual training requirements
  • Ability to follow HIPAA and Confidentiality rules guiding billing and organizational policies and procedures.

This position is required to lift up to 10 pounds and must be able to walk, stoop, climb stairs, and bend.

REQUIREMENTS

Education

Associates degree

Licensure

N/A

Years of Experience

5-7 yrs. experience in medical billing, coding, or collections required.

Computer Experience

Proficiency in computer systems and software

*Experience using SmartCare is a plus

Other

Strong attention to detail.

Customer oriented and customer focused.

Ability to meet deadlines in a timely manner.
