Position Summary

The Site Director contributes to the agency’s child development philosophy and goals by leading a comprehensive child development program at a specific site and oversees a center.



Duties & Responsibilities

Communication with Parents:

  • Maintain open communication with parents by scheduling and facilitating parent meetings and parent policy committee meetings with family worker.
  • As a parent and child advocate, resolve issues or concerns, translate for parents, and meet to collaborate regarding child disabilities and referrals.
  • Assist with recruiting and enrolling new parents for the program. Manage center information and necessary documents for enrollment, to include the collection of parent fees, and follow-up.
  • Conduct parent workshops, and collaborate with parents to plan the End of the Year Celebration.
  • Aid in scheduling and conducting parent/teacher conferences and/or home visits as needed.
  • Discuss importance of daily attendance requirements.

Documentation:

  • Oversee maintenance of inventory list and supply order forms for food, maintenance and classrooms.
  • Oversee check requests, accountable for petty cash receipts and documentation.
  • Monitor and document children’s attendance.

Center Operations:

  • Monitor staffing schedule to ensure adequate opening and closing of the center.
  • Ensure that the building, the center, and all of the classrooms are in compliance with state and city regulations and NAEYC standards.
  • Manage previous citations to ensure current and future compliance.
  • Responsible for site safety and emergency response procedures to include fire and tornado drills, and emergency evacuation routes.
  • Oversee center maintenance issues and submit work orders as needed. Open center outside of operating hours for additional maintenance or special activities as needed.

Staff Supervision and Communication:

  • Conduct regular center staff and teaching team meetings, family review and ongoing individual supervisor meetings to address issues and concerns, and to share ideas.
  • Assist in recruiting and supervising volunteers, including student teachers, field experience students, professionals, parents and family members, and senior citizens in the grandparent program.
  • Through classroom observations and regular monitoring, ensure classrooms, curriculums education folders, screenings, and other paperwork generated by staff are in compliance with program contracts and agency expectations.
  • Ensure all policies and practices are in accord with city and state regulations and NAEYC accreditation standards, and keep staff well informed.
  • Manage and conduct annual staff performance evaluations, and ongoing professional development.
  • Review timesheets and submit for processing.
  • Track and manage vacation requests and compensatory time for staff.
  • Oversee the growth of the center’s enrollment and program options, consistently meeting target enrollment numbers and maintain full enrollment. Recruit at local community agencies for new children and families.
  • Assist with hiring new qualified staff (utilizing Craigslist, colleges and universities).

Assess Children:

  • Administer ESI-R screening as needed.
  • Monitor completion of, My Teaching Strategies Creative Curriculum, Ages and Stages Questionnaire, Ages and Stages SE Questionnaire.

Administration:

  • Work closely with Associate Director and other content area specialists.
  • In cooperation and collaboration with the Administrative Team, participate on various center committees such as the Health Advisory and Mental Health Committees, End of the Year Celebration and Annual In-Services planning committees.
  • Actively participate in meetings, which may include management, teaching team, center, committee, parent, parent policy, family reviews, city/state, agency, board meetings and scheduled contract meetings and trainings.
  • Assist with coordinating meetings with mental health consultants for parents, children and staff.
  • Support the disability process to include meeting and coordinating with the parents, disabilities team and local schools.
  • Engage in continuing education and professional development activities such as trainings, workshops, and classes to meet required qualifications.
  • Work collaboratively with Education Coordinator and Lead Teacher to coordinate field trips.
  • Submit all required reports.

Community Relations and Partnerships:

  • Contact State and City Representatives when necessary to report child abuse and neglect and/or advocate for parents and children and complete required documentation where applicable.
  • Contact licensing representatives as needed, and facilitate site visits.
  • Conduct center tours to outside visitors such as potential parents, licensing officials, aldermen, auditors, grant funders, board members and community representatives.
  • Establish and foster partnerships with local agencies, using them as parent and center resources. Create partnership agreements, and maintain open communication to facilitate growth in the community by recruiting community resources, and attending community meetings.

Teaching:

Site Director is responsible for all Lead Teacher documentation responsibilities during vacancies. Refer to Lead Teacher job description for full scope of duties.

Requirements:


Education and/or Experience:

Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education from an accredited college or university, or Masters in a related field with a minimum of 18 credit hours in Early childhood Education.


And

Infant Toddler Specialist Credential Level 5, ECE Credential Level 5 and Directors Credential Level 2 or 3.


Or

Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from an accredited college or university or Bachelor’s in a related field with a minimum of 18 credit hours in Early childhood Education.


AND

A minimum of 2 years direct service in a supervisory role and administration.
