Your Mission:

The Employment Counselor reports to the Social Benefits & Employment Coordinator and is responsible for upholding the highest standards of CASL by providing community-based, person-centered, relationship-driven services and interventions to clients served by CASL. They guide their clients through the process of finding job opportunities by establishing a detailed plan for each individual.

Your Impact:

As an Employment Counselor you will:


Key Responsibilities:


Employment Consultation:

  • Provide personalized guidance to clients based on their short-term and long-term career goals.

Training Plans:

  • Develop and implement pre-employment and pre-vocational training plans.

Job Matching:

  • Identify and match clients' backgrounds, skills, and interests with job openings.

Interview Support:

  • Accompany clients to job interviews and provide necessary assistance.

Employer Relations:

  • Maintain and develop relationships with employers and prospective contacts.

Reporting:

  • Complete monthly and quarterly reports as needed.

Workshops:

  • Organize and conduct pre-employment workshops; update materials as required.

Outreach:

  • Present and promote program services to individuals, organizations, and community events.

Data Management:

  • Enter data into Salesforce, Career Connect, ECM, or similar Client Management Systems (CMS) and maintain accurate records.

Team Support:

  • Assist team members with caseloads, back up duties, and train new staff as needed.

Must Haves

To thrive in this role, you should have:


Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university, OR
  • Associate degree with at least 4 years of customer-focused working experience, OR
  • High School diploma with at least 8 years of customer-focused working experience.

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in English and Chinese (Cantonese or Mandarin)
  • Competency in general computer applications for word processing, data entry, email, and internet research.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to bend and lift a minimum of 15 pounds.
  • Sufficient visual, hearing, and learning capabilities to perform essential functions.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.

Work Environment:

  • Work within standard work hours 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday with occasional irregular scheduling based on needs onsite at our location in Chinatown Chicago.
