BronxWorks is hiring one (1) Program Specialist for the Community Health Program.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support youth interns with program preparation

• Program enrollment and outreach

• Follow food safety guidelines

• Engage with community members during nutrition and cooking education

• Complete program documentation

• Perform program outreach

• Data entry

• Communication with other BronxWorks programs and staff

• Work closely with Program Coordinator, Activity Specialist, and program staff to meet program targets

• Provide Program Coordinator with weekly reports

• Assume responsibilities of program assistant when necessary

• Perform additional duties as assigned

• Assist with Snap Incentive program

• Place orders with food vendors for food bag distribution

• Prepare and receive produce for food distribution bag

• Must have willingness to travel throughout the Bronx

• Program outreach for food distribution program, ordering, receiving, program documentation and reporting

• Food distribution bag set up and packaging produce bags


QUALIFICATIONS:

• Able to walk and stand for several hours at a time

• Able to work in all weather conditions, e.g. heat, cold, rain, sun, wind, snow

• Proficiency in English required

• Proficiency in modern business communications including personal computers, electronic mail, voicemail, and copier equipment required

• Bachelor’s degree required

• Provide Program Coordinator with weekly reports

• Able to assist with enforcing market regulations to shoppers including social distancing, limiting conversations, and customer traffic flow

• Bilingual Preferred

• New York State Food Safety Certification preferred, if not obtained, must be completed within 6 months of hire


PROGRAM SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare food distribution bags

• Coordinate with BronxWorks Community Health Programs to place weekly orders with vendors

• Assist shoppers with use of benefit payments and nutrition programs (SNAP, FMNP, Health Bucks)

• Promote the Farm Stand within the community

• Respond in a timely manner to communications from the office

• Perform other duties as needed also

• Become knowledgeable of every component and service offered by the CMCC Food Pantry

• Provide assistance with all Food Pantry activities, such as lifting boxes, sorting food, assisting with inventory management, and crowd control.

• Complete data entry for Food Pantry clients

• Create and distribute informational materials and flyers to promote services, events, and other special functions.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.

• Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

• Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time.

• Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.

• Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.

• Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and/or field work.
