WHAT IS ON OFFER


Alfred H Knight has an opportunity for a General Inspector/Sampler to work with our Inspection team, based at the Asahi Refining USA, Inc facility located in West Valley City, Utah.  You will be responsible for ensuring client instructions are carried out at agreed consignment locations, acting as an independent party to verify compliance with agreed processes and inspection and supervision procedures and providing details to clients regarding the handling of their products.

To be successful at Alfred H Knight, you will need to display the following:


Essential 


  • Able to send and receive accurate email and phone communications for coordination and scheduling of assignments and to communicate status updates.
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as packing lists, operating and maintenance instructions, procedures manuals, safety instructions, etc.
  • Able to follow directions.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Able to multi-task while effectively collecting and managing data.
  • Must have the ability to convey details through accurate, professional and timely communications (verbal, written and in person) including taking photographs and producing thorough and detailed written reports (in some instances)
  • Maintain a professional and independent position for all assignments.
  • Must be reliable and able to organise and operate independently (training will be provided).
  • Must be respectful, able to work well with others, communicate effectively, handle conflict resolution and maintain positive, courteous and professional relationships with colleagues, clients and on and off site personnel. 
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities and deadlines.
  • Computer literate with a working knowledge of MS Office suite (Word, Excel, G-mail, Google Drive).
  • Must have a good grasp of basic mathematics (counting, verifying quantities and weights).
  • Follow appropriate health and safety policies and procedures at all times, including site-specific requirements.
  • Maintain work areas, records and equipment in a clean, organized and functional condition.


Required Work Experience 


  • Experience in material sampling and inspection practices is preferred but not essential. 
  • Experience in warehousing, port operations, logistics, processing or general hands-on tasks is desirable.
  • TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credentials allow access to US Ports) preferred. If working in a location where TWIC is required, candidates must be able to pass the background and security requirements.


Required Qualifications


  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the role including lifting up to 50lbs, walking, standing, reaching, bending, climbing, sampling and driving.
  • Must have a valid and clean Driving Licence.
  • Must have a personal vehicle suitable for transportation to assignments (expenses will be reimbursed).
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.


Travel / Rotation Requirements 


  • Depending on the workload at Asahi, some local travel may be required for off-site opportunities.
  • Schedules and work rotations will be organized and communicated by the local Senior Inspector to ensure proper coverage of assignments.

  • 401K. You can elect to make pre-tax contributions of between 1% to 84% of eligible earnings. The company contributes 3% of salary per annum.

  • Life Insurance. $80,000 total (as long as you are employed by AHK).
  • Disability Insurance. Long-term disability insurance is available at low cost to employees.
