Position Reports To: Chief Operations Officer

Classification: Salaried, Exempt

Purpose: The Director of Volunteer Resources and Support designs, plans and directs a volunteer program to attract, inspire, train, deploy and retain volunteers.

Location and hours: Charleston Office or Hybrid

· For candidates beyond the greater Charleston area, a hybrid workplace location model will be considered. At minimum, the Director of Volunteer Resources and Services will be based in the Charleston office one set day a week. Travel to and from the Charleston office will not be a reimbursable expense.

· Hybrid positions require a designated home work space and reliable high speed internet.

· This is an exempt position that may regularly require a 40-hour work week.

· This position will operate with the standard business hours of a 4.5 day workweek during the school year. Summer business hours may change to a 4-day week upon the approval of the CEO, but not guaranteed.

· Will require occasional evening and weekend hours and/or overnight stays.

Direct Reports: The Director of Volunteer Resources and Support will lead a team including the Volunteer Membership Specialist and Customer Care Team. They will directly supervise two positions.

Salary: $60,000

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

Train Volunteers:

· Oversee volunteer orientation and onboarding systems – processes, procedures and requirements.

· Develop and coordinate training systems that fulfill educational needs of all Girl Scout volunteers.

· Create innovative ways to provide volunteer education. (Example: Podcasting)


Deploy Volunteers:

· Ensure quality of service by implementing and overseeing volunteer screening systems.

· Maintain high standards of volunteer service through systems of accountability, including volunteer reappointment, reassignment and release.

· Provide clear roles and responsibilities for all volunteer positions.


Retain Volunteers:

· Provide clear, timely and relevant communication to volunteers, volunteer committees.

· Solicit volunteer feedback for satisfaction.

· Measure the performance of our volunteer model and systems.

· Create and implement customer service systems to support volunteers with the expertise and resources to solve problems quickly

· Empower and appreciate volunteers.


Strategy:

· Direct the council strategy for volunteerism and Customer Care.

· Analyze, understand and utilize data to drive results.

· Provide leadership in the development of innovative strategies and effective services for supporting girl and adult membership through the a volunteer support structure.


Other:

· Oversee the department’s annual budget and budgeting process.

· Exemplify strong leadership, team, and personal accountability in the development of environments that foster diversity, equity, inclusion, and access through words, actions, and attitude.

· Perform other duties as necessary or assigned.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Leadership, Non-profit management, Business, Human Resources or other related field.

· 3+ years supervisory experience.

· Proven ability to manage and resolve conflicts.

· Proven ability for accountability practices.

· Experience overseeing policy and procedure at an organization-wide level.

· Experience in screening and vetting applicants, including criminal background checks.


Physical Requirements:

· Ability to travel throughout council jurisdiction.

· Occasionally moves throughout the facility to access file cabinets, office machinery, supplies, etc.

· Occasionally moves items that weigh up to 25 pounds.

· Must be able to sit in a meeting or at a workstation and a computer screen for prolonged periods.
