The Architectural Sheet Metal Technician will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and installing sheet metal components used in building architecture. This role requires a combination of technical skills, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of sheet metal properties and fabrication techniques.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Fabrication: Measure, cut, bend, and shape sheet metal to create components such as panels, trims, flashings, and other architectural elements.
  • Installation: Accurately install sheet metal components on various structures, ensuring proper fit, alignment, and secure fastening.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine job requirements and appropriate materials.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate sheet metal fabrication machinery such as shears, brakes, presses, and welding equipment.
  • Quality Control: Inspect finished products for accuracy, ensuring they meet design specifications and quality standards.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, including engineers, designers, and construction professionals, to achieve project goals.
Requirements:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or apprenticeship in sheet metal fabrication preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in architectural sheet metal work or a related field.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in using hand and power tools, machinery, and welding equipment. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy materials, stand for extended periods, and work in various environmental conditions.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong focus on precision and accuracy to ensure high-quality workmanship.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues that may arise during fabrication and installation.
  • Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with team members and reporting to supervisors.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification in sheet metal fabrication or welding.
  • Experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software.
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations related to sheet metal work.
