Curtain Wall Technician

The Curtainwall technician is responsible for the installation of curtain wall systems on commercial and industrial construction projects. This role requires a strong understanding of construction techniques, materials, and safety protocols to ensure that curtain walls are installed efficiently and to the highest standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in curtainwall installation, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

- Installation: Accurately measure, cut, and install curtainwall systems, including glass, metal panels, and other materials.

- Reading Blueprints: Interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and blueprints to determine the installation process and material requirements.

- Handling Materials: Safely handle and transport curtainwall components, ensuring that all materials are properly stored and protected.

- Quality Control: Inspect completed installations to ensure alignment, fit, and finish meet project specifications and company quality standards.

- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other construction team members, including glaziers, ironworkers, and general laborers, to ensure project milestones are met.

- Problem Solving: Identify and resolve issues that may arise during installation, such as material defects or design discrepancies.

- Maintenance: Assist in the maintenance and repair of curtainwall systems as needed, including resealing and replacing damaged components.

• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in curtainwall installation or a related field.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Vocational training or certifications in construction, glazing, or metalwork are a plus.
• Technical Skills: Proficient in the use of hand and power tools, including saws, drills, and grinders. Familiarity with different types of curtainwall systems and installation techniques.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy materials, work at heights, and perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
• Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
• Attention to Detail: High level of precision and accuracy in all aspects of work, with a focus on safety and quality.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in OSHA or other relevant safety programs.
• Experience with large-scale commercial projects.
• Knowledge of different glazing systems and their installation processes.

Work Environment:

• This position involves working on active construction sites, often at heights and in varying weather conditions.
• The role may require working extended hours, including weekends, to meet project deadlines.
