Controls Engineer I

Job Summary:

You will work on developing a new control system product for our solar trackers, and work on improving and resolving issues with our existing control system product.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development of a new control system for our solar trackers.
  • Contribute to the implementation of new algorithms and features into our existing controller platform.
  • Work with electronics design companies and suppliers, scoping and overseeing their work, as necessary.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to deploy and test the new control system, features, and software at real solar sites; travel, as necessary.
  • Investigate and resolve failures of control-system components; travel, as necessary.
  • Report the status of work regularly to the hiring manager
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Physics, or other Natural Sciences required.
  • 2+ years of academia or industry experience in programming in C/C++.
  • Interest in control systems and electric circuits.
  • Willingness to learn and improve quickly.


Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering (EE).
  • Successful completion of undergraduate or graduate-school courses on electronics and circuit analysis.
  • 1+ years of academia or industry experience in CAD tools for electric circuit capture and PCB design.
  • 1+ years of academia or industry experience in prototyping control systems involving microcontrollers, sensors, and actuators.
  • 1+ years of academia or industry experience in programming microcontrollers.
  • Python programming.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, smaller company environment.
