Communications and Digital Media Specialist

Job Summary
The Communications and Digital Media Specialist will collaborate with a team to share the stories of Castilleja School’s past and present while also supporting a vision for the future with all communities within and around the school—students, families, employees, trustees, alums and their families, Palo Altans, and members of the broader girls’ school community. This position will work closely with departments across the school, will need to be able to build positive relationships, and will be asked to work independently, proactively, and collaboratively to support Castilleja’s mission.
Key Responsibilities
In collaboration with other members of the Communications Department, and aligned with school-wide communications strategy and branding:
- Photography and videography for school website, internal and external communications, publications, and other school-wide and mission-driven projects
- Create content for and implement the school’s social media strategy across several platforms
- Serve as lead content editor of the community-wide newsletter
- Copyedit for Communications Department and other departments as needed
- Support website updates for various departments and the parent association
- Community relations, including supporting communications and events
- Support inclusivity within the community, including managing internal and external translations
- Collaborating with departments across campus, including Advancement, Admissions, Athletics, and the Center for Awareness, Compassion, and Engagement, to support a robust annual schedule of events with associated communications and content creation
Key Qualifications and Skills
- Advanced knowledge of photography, videography, and editing software (composition & DSLR camera functionality)
- At least 2 years of work experience in marketing or communications in a professional environment
- Bachelors in communication, media, photography is a plus.
This position requires the ability to climb stairs, and prolonged periods of walking and standing. Must be able to lift, bend stoop, reach and lift up to 25 pounds.
