As the Maintenance Manager, you will oversee the maintenance operations to ensure the efficient and uninterrupted functioning of all equipment and facilities. You will lead a team of maintenance technicians responsible for providing technical assistance in the design, creation, testing, and troubleshooting of equipment, improving the efficiency and safety of our manufacturing processes and company operations. You will identify and plan process and facility repairs, maintenance, and improvements. In this role, you will collaborate effectively with our engineering, research and development, and production teams.


What You’ll Accomplish:


Supervision

  • Team Leadership: Lead a team of maintenance technicians in designing, testing, and troubleshooting equipment to enhance manufacturing efficiency and safety.
  • Task Management: Communicate schedules, tasks, and job requirements, prioritizing and organizing the team’s workload while ensuring accountability.
  • Performance Feedback: Measure and document individual and team performance, providing ongoing feedback through coaching, mentoring, and formal reviews.
  • Problem Solving: Lead complex problem-solving efforts, mentoring staff in addressing routine issues and ensuring root cause resolution.

Leadership & Strategy

  • Team Culture: Cultivate an inclusive and supportive culture through active relationship-building across shifts and departments. Provide technical assistance and skill-based training for manufacturing and maintenance personnel.
  • Project Leadership: Oversee maintenance-related projects, aligning departmental strategies with Rhino’s overarching goals.
  • Budget Management: Manage departmental budgets, ensuring financial objectives are met while maintaining fiscal responsibility.
  • Policy Enforcement: Ensure fair and consistent application of company policies and procedures.
  • Values Champion: Embody and promote Rhino’s purpose, principles, vision, and B Corp certification values.

Maintenance

  • Project Coordination: Lead maintenance projects, coordinating the design, modification, adaptation, and installation of process equipment with timely completion.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor equipment and process performance, initiating corrective actions to solve problems and correct deficiencies.
  • Safety and Compliance: Incorporate sanitary design and food safety into all projects, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and procedures; adhere to all safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
  • External Coordination: Coordinate with contractors, equipment vendors, and supply vendors to support projects.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties that directly contribute to Rhino Foods' objectives.
Requirements:

What You’ll Need to Succeed:


Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering. Mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering preferred.

Experience

  • 5 years of relevant maintenance/engineering experience, preferably in food manufacturing; 3 years of experience overseeing maintenance and/or engineering staff.
  • Experience with engineering software (e.g., PLC programming, CAD, DOE).
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Rhino is a three-shift manufacturing environment. Occasional off-shift support and presence is required. Regular weekend work may be required. This position involves working in an office, maintenance shop, and production setting. This environment includes exposure to variable temperatures including heat and temperatures as low as 10 degrees Fahrenheit. Requires use of power and fabrication tools, and exposure to metal, oil, and electric currents. Requires prolonged standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing/pulling; prolonged contact with water, detergents, and sanitizers; exposure to high levels of machinery, fabrication, and power tool noise. Requires repetitive motions and lifting up to 75 lbs.
