Interfaith is the most comprehensive social services agency in North County, providing both immediate safety net services and long-term, life-changing programs designed to meet the holistic needs of people in crisis. Together, in partnership with 200+ diverse faith communities, more than 650 recurrent volunteers, and a growing staff of over 200, Interfaith provides a safe haven and pathway towards self-sufficiency for more than 20,000 community members annually.
WHAT YOU WILL DO: The Communications Manager works specifically in collaboration with Development department staff, donors and volunteers, along with all other programs in the agency, as well as externally within the community to develop, create, design, and implement communications and development strategies.
The primary communications responsibilities are focused on an effort to promote positive public image and communication among various audiences to advance Interfaith’s profile and efforts to fundraise and advocate our mission to external stakeholders. This position will manage the agency-wide communications strategy with specific major assignments in regards to communications and marketing. This position will also collaborate with others in the agency to achieve image consistency, agency branding, coordination of messages, and the highest standards for external communications. This position works on coordinating agency-wide design, message, and content generation, including electronic and print communications.
The primary responsibilities in development involve supporting the creation of agency promotions, donor-related communications, including recognition and acknowledgement, and appeals. This position will also be responsible for cultivating, communicating, moving forward and asking for donor support as well as raising agency profile within the community.

Communications
· Manage agency-wide communications strategy to include traditional/print materials and electronic, social media, podcast, website communications (writing and graphic design)
· Create, produce, and disseminate marketing and communications materials that share Interfaith’s work and successes in ways that deepen awareness and build support (newsletters, annual reports, brochures, direct mailings, promotional campaigns and special event publications)
· Plan, create and disseminate compelling press releases; build and manage relationships with traditional media outlets
· Create, compile, and select compelling stories and photography for print and digital communications
· Responsible for content-related protocols and keeping social media applications and website up to date
· Work with website vendors to ensure ongoing improvement of website, including phased updates and redesigns
· Write and edit newsletters, news stories
· Create presentations, brochures, event materials and other special communications
· Provide agency-wide communications support
· Actively monitor the agency’s online reputation
· Work closely with administration and program staff to identify, prioritize, and support communication needs
· Support the development and execution of branded and collateral materials for major organizational initiatives
· Create and coordinate production schedules and maintain relationships with vendors, photographers, graphic designers, media outlets, community partners, and corporate partners for the purpose of gaining coverage in various communications platforms
· Graphic Arts experience a plus
Development
· Support special events of all sizes
· Support development staff with written proposals and create donor correspondence
· Plan, create and implement communications to support annual giving program, donor acknowledgement and recognition.
Supervision
· Manage lead development coordinator, marketing coordinator, and outside contractors related to web design and print content
Other Duties
· Participate in media relations events or activities
· Maintain media archives
· Monitor assigned staff performance, complete evaluations and reviews, and participate in staff hiring for department
· Participates in all staff meetings and trainings
· Performs additional duties as assigned
Requirements:EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE
· Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or related field.
· Excellent writing and editing skills
· Graphic design experience
· 3+ years development, marketing, communications, media or public relations experience.
· Demonstrated experience in planning, designing, and implementing strategic communications plans preferred
Experience managing websites and social media applications preferred
