Overview:

A skilled System Specialist is needed to support a data collection and management project. The primary focus of this role is to review, analyze, and update roadway characteristics data. The ideal candidate will have experience in data quality control, trend analysis, and using various data sources such as aerial imagery and street views. This position requires adherence to agency data standards and collaboration with vendors to resolve discrepancies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Review: Responsible for reviewing field-collected roadway characteristics data for HPMS and MIRE Data Collection projects.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze, edit, and update collected data, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Quality Control: Conduct quality control checks to ensure data accuracy and identify trends affecting data quality.
  • Utilize Source Data: Use aerial imagery, PathWeb, and street view to verify and validate data.
  • Adherence to Standards: Follow agency data standards and guidelines.
  • Vendor Coordination: Work with vendors to identify and correct data discrepancies.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:

  • Language Proficiency: Must be proficient in English with clear and understandable communication.
  • Education: 4-year college degree or equivalent technical study.
  • Data Management: Experience in accurate data production, including reviewing data for completeness, identifying, and correcting errors.
  • GIS Environment: Strong understanding of principles, methods, and procedures in data acquisition, management, analysis, and visualization within a GIS environment.
  • Software Proficiency: Able to utilize appropriate software tools for data processing and analysis.
  • Microsoft Office: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to lead meetings and work sessions.
  • Independent Work: Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage time and resources effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational, analytical, planning, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Troubleshooting: Proven experience in troubleshooting with minimal supervision.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Transportation System Knowledge: Understanding of roadway attributes and network systems.
  • Roadway Data Experience: Experience in roadway data collection and processing.
  • ESRI ArcPro: Proficiency with ESRI ArcPro.
  • Linear Referencing Systems: Knowledge of linear referencing systems is highly desirable.
