New England Cancer Specialists is looking for a full-time,Remote Referral and Patient Account Specialist. The Referral and Patient Account Specialist is responsible for verifying insurance eligibility for all patients and obtaining insurance referrals as needed. Additional duties include processing collection account letters and establishing payment plans with patients. This position is responsible for processing patient statements bi-weekly. The Patient Account Specialist processes patient and insurance card credit card payments weekly

NECS is a private medical practice composed of 18 oncologists and hematologists serving the region from 5 different locations in Maine and New Hampshire. Job Duties:

  • Reviews daily new patient appointment reports to ensure insurance eligibility
  • Reviews weekly/monthly referral reports
  • Works assigned tasks in eligibility tasking system
  • Processes collection account letters per schedule
  • Processes patient and insurance credit card payments via electronic practice management system
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with outside vendors, the Billing Office and the Financial Advocates
  • Attends and participates in required meetings
  • Ensure and maintain confidentiality, privacy and compliance of patient rights in accordance with HIPPA regulations and New England Cancer Specialists policies
  • Other duties as assigned

Travel: Rare

Required Skills and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Microsoft Excel Experience - Preferred
  • Minimum of two years medical billing experience
  • Proven organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
