Receptionist

The Receptionist is responsible for greeting customers, vendors, and employees in a friendly and professional manner. This position reports directly to the HR Generalist.
Whitaker Construction, founded in 1953, has over 70 years of experience in the heavy civil and underground utility construction industry. Whitaker, an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) company, has become one of the largest contractors in the intermountain area with more than 600 employees and nearly 70 crews. We perform sanitary sewer, storm drain, culinary water, irrigation, earthwork, roadway construction, dams, landfills, natural gas pipelines, industrial piping, and telecommunication projects primarily in Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Wyoming, Colorado, and Oregon.
Core Responsibilities:
- Greet and welcome visitors in person with enthusiasm and professionalism.
- Assists visitors with company check in process.
- Answering incoming calls in a professional, friendly manner.
- Maintains security and issues visitor log.
- Maintains telecommunication system.
- Maintains safe and clean reception area.
- Data entry as required working in applications such as Microsoft Office on a daily basis.
- Filing, scanning and distribution of mail as needed.
- Perform assignments and directives provided by the HR Generalist.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- High School Diploma preferred.
- Must be over the age of 18.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Must possess a patient and positive demeanor, work well under pressure and have strong organizational skills.
- At least 3 years of experience as a Receptionist / Administrative Assistant.
- The ability to obtain a Food Handler’s Permit.
- Works efficiently and manages time effectively.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This is largely a sedentary role; however, due to the nature of career fairs, there is walking, carrying, and lifting items up to 25 pounds.
