Job Title: Weld Engineer

Reports to: Business Unit Leader FLSA Status: EXEMPT

Schedule: Monday - Friday (8:00AM to 5:00PM) extended hours may be required to support business needs

Primary duties and responsibilities:

• Review/preparation of welding and process instructions, standards, and specifications

• Cycle time improvements and production efficiency gains on assigned equipment

• Provide training for personnel, both technical and production

• Assist in development and operations of other weld and assembly cells

• Modify computer-controlled robot movements

• Perform preventive or corrective maintenance on robotic systems or components

• Develop robotic path motions to maximize efficiency, safety, and quality

• Assist in the design, configuration, or application of robotic systems

• Set-up and troubleshoot robotic systems, using knowledge of microprocessors, programmable controllers, electronics, circuit analysis, mechanics, sensor, or feedback

• Develop, conduct, and coordinate welder training classes for support technicians in application and validation of weld process

• Developing welding techniques and procedures for robotic welding operations

• Inspects weld joints and conducts tests to ensure welds meet company standards, national code requirements, and customer job specifications

Education, prior work experience and specialized skills and knowledge:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels within the organization

• Must be able to work independently and prioritize tasks

• Must be available after hours

• Weekend support might be needed occasionally

• Occasional travel might be needed

• Multi-tasking with keen attention to detail and accuracy

• Must have outstanding organization skills

• Strong experience with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

• Minimum of two years’ experience is preferred

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering preferred

• Must be able to work safely and move at a moderate to fast pace across specified terrain for extended periods of time

• Must be able to lift to 40lbs on occasion

• Manipulate medium to large objects, materials, or tools on occasion

• Use arms/legs continually and repeatedly over an extended period

Physical environment/working conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be expected to go between and office and manufacturing environment daily. All applicable PPE is required while walking the manufacturing floor. Ability to lift at least 40 lbs.

Must be able to work as part of a team. Must maintain confidentiality when working on assignments.
