Job Description:
This is a unique opportunity to work directly with the founding partners of this highly successful defamation law practice with the opportunity to shape the culture of the Firm moving forward. You are likely to be an experienced HR Generalist with a passion for recruiting and nurturing exceptional talent, seeking a role where you can drive meaningful change.You will be driven and ambitious, a strong communicator, and an accomplished influencer across all levels.The firm provides Big-Law-level service and work products for their clients, and applicants should not only have references and recommendations commensurate with their high expectations for client service but also ensure the right fit with their close-knit firm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Talent acquisition: You will lead their talent acquisition strategy, partnering with the founders to recruit against budgeted growth targets and replacement headcount throughout the year. You will advise on the appropriate sourcing and selection strategies and create an onboarding program that prepares new hires for success.
- Talent development: You will develop and introduce formal career development processes, standardizing and communicating the requirements for progression and promotion, including performance appraisals, setting goals, and creating career plans.
- Learning:You will identify appropriate external training providers and arrange in-house events based on business needs, career plans, professional obligations (CLE), and legal obligations at federal and state levels.
- Human resource management:You will deliver timely and efficient HR administration to the business, produce requested management information, produce offer letters, and manage the administration of key aspects of the employee life cycle.You will be responsible for devising, interpreting, and implementing HR policies and ensuring the accurate maintenance of health insurance and other benefits.
- Performance:You will manage and advise on performance management issues, including addressing disciplinary, grievance, and termination processes and ensuring compliance with applicable federal and state laws.
Qualifications:
- You will be degree-educated and a member of SHRM, with at least eight years of demonstrable experience at the managerial or director level in HR with a professional services firm, preferably a law firm.
- This role requires a well-rounded generalist with a strong mix of Operational and Strategic HR skills who is experienced in fast-paced, dynamic, and entrepreneurial environments.
- You will have strong influencing and communications skills and demonstrate the capacity to establish professional credibility quickly at all levels of seniority.Strong numerical and verbal reasoning skills are crucial.
- This is a standalone role, so candidates should demonstrate the ability to work autonomously and be resilient, enthusiastic, and extremely well-organized.
- As an experienced HR practitioner, you will have a thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and the ability to advise on and implement best practices.
