WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Create 2D & 3D drawings, elevations, and renderings.
  • Develop accurate product specifications and installation drawings.
  • Adhere to deadlines and quality standards.
  • Participate in showroom tours, live design, and client meetings.
  • Maintain clear and detailed documentation of projects, as well as accurate records of meetings, expenses, and transmittals.
  • Obtain quotes from manufacturers.
  • Understand all technical and practical aspects of the design process, including but not limited to: Project Initialization; Programming; Blocking and Space Planning; Interior Design; Product Specification, Pricing, Discounting and Verification; Installation Drawing Preparation, & Coordination; Custom Furniture Design; Project Documentation.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of design-specific software programs including AutoCAD, CAP, and CET.
  • Create and deliver design presentations to end users and interior design and architectural firms.
  • Develop knowledge of specific product lines represented by Interior Investments, LLC. Working knowledge should include approved manufacturer product design and application, product specifications, and technical specifications.
  • Communicate with electricians, plumbers, and other trades in order to ensure successful specification and installation of furniture solutions.
  • Stay up to date on applicable codes, ordinances and regulations governing the design and installation of product lines (National Electric Code, Chicago Electric Code, National Fire Code, Americans with Disabilities Act, etc.), and be aware of relevant ergonomic and health safety issues related to workstation design.
  • Comply with all policies and directives of the company and conduct all business affairs in an ethical and professional manner.


WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE:

  • 3-5 years of experience in interior design or closely related technical services or products industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in interior design or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of interior commercial construction, architecture and design, and contract furnishings.
  • Experience with presenting to clients alongside salesperson.
  • Furniture dealership experience preferred - Knowledge of Herman Miller and Knoll product.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to work independently as well as on a team.
  • Skilled at translating design concepts into complete, accurate drawings and specifications in realistic time periods.
  • Capable of accurately assessing architectural field conditions and understanding interfaces between building systems and furniture products.
  • Ability to prioritize deliverables and maintain focus on multiple projects at one time. Utilize time and resources efficiently and effectively.
  • Experience with the following programs: AutoCAD, CET, CAP, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite. Willingness to learn new systems and programs.
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to shift focus quickly as demands change.
