Kent Soil and Water Conservation District

Administrative Assistant I (Full Time)


Job Summary: The primary duty of the Administrative Assistant I is to conduct routine clerical work to support the administrative functions for the Kent Soil and Water Conservation District

Essential Functions


Performs a variety of administrative functions to support all office staff and clientele.
Provides front desk coverage and is the primary customer facing employee.
Answers and screens telephone calls; answers inquiries within scope of assigned responsibilities; transfers others to appropriate individuals or agency.
Responds to enquiries from the public or other staff and assists as needed.
Support Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Maryland Department of Agriculture (MDA) and Kent Soil and Water Conservation (KSWCD) staff as needed to facilitate NRCS, MDA and KSWCD program implementation as well as file and records management for all conservation programs.
Maintains files including confidential material and various office records.
Maintains and updates KSWCDs website and assist with the Facebook page.
Serves as editor of the KSWCD Quarterly Newsletter, including printing and folding the document.
Responsible for completing bank reconciliations on all District accounts.
Compiles Agendas, Activities Report, financial reports and other meeting related information for monthly Board Meetings.
Takes Monthly Staff Meeting Minutes, sends out draft, collects comments, and distributes final approved minutes to staff.
Performs other duties as required.

Ability to use Microsoft Office applications, Google applications (such as G-mail), web design software (such as Word Press) and internet usage are required.
Experience using databases and spreadsheets is essential.

Education and Experience:


Requires High School diploma or equivalent, to include or supplemented by courses in typing, office practice, business English, and business mathematics.
Two years of experience in an administrative or office management role.
Or an associate degree in office management, business management or closely related field.
Prior Agriculture or Natural Resources experience a plus

Physical, Environmental Conditions and Other Requirements

Work is conducted in an office setting with comfortable temperatures and appropriate lighting. The position occasionally requires stooping or bending. Occasional light lifting, such as three or four reams of paper, books, or other materials (up to 30 pounds} may be required.
Must possess a valid Drivers License
Must pass a Drug Test
Must complete a background check

Salary and Benefits:


Salary commensurate with experience, Minimum Starting Salary is $40,000
