Position Summary
The System Administrator/Junior DBS is responsible for both database and systems administration ensuring performance, security, and reliability of Diamond Game systems and databases. This role requires collaboration and strong communication skills and the ability to effectively align with Diamond Game's internal teams and customers. The System Administrator/Junior DBA must be effective in aligning IT strategies with Diamond Game's business objectives, ensuring a high level of service to Diamond Game customers.
*This is a hybrid position at our office in Chatsworth, CA, with three days in the office*
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers, MSSQL Server, networks, and other IT infrastructure.
- Monitor system performance, identify issues, and troubleshoot hardware and software problems. Configure SQL Server monitoring utilities to minimize false alarms.
- Provide Tier 2 support to our field technicians and Lottery users for our proprietary back-office applications and environment.
- Implement and maintain security measures, including firewalls, and antivirus. Set up user accounts, permissions, and roles to maintain database and application security.
- Ensure regular backups of systems and databases, and support disaster recovery planning and execution. Ensure data integrity and the availability of critical data.
- Assist in the management and maintenance of MSSQL databases, ensuring their health and performance. Have a basic understanding of query optimization and indexing to enhance database efficiency.
- Support data migration and transformation tasks during system upgrades or changes.
- Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, procedures, and operational tasks.
- Consistently demonstrate the ability to practice Diamond Game's core values and apply them.
- Perform other tasks and duties as needed and/or requested by management.
Education & Experience Requirements
- A bachelor's degree or experience in a related field, such as computer science or engineering.
- 3+ years of experience in technical service or a related field.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, or similar.
Knowledge and Abilities Requirements
- Basic knowledge of Windows and Linux server environments
- Familiarity with networking concepts and hardware
- Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure)
- Basic understanding of MSSQL Server and SQL scripting. MySQL knowledge is a plus
- Knowledge of backup and recovery process for systems and databases
- Understanding of security best practices for systems and databases
- Adheres to Company standards and methodology
- Adheres to Company confidentiality and security requirements
- Must carry a cell phone during business work hours and on‐call hours
- Flexible hours as needed for projects
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment, and to collaborate with other teams within the organization
- Ability to perform duties under minimal to no supervision while exercising discretion and independent judgment.
