Job Description

Cedars-Sinai is seeking a highly skilled Senior SQL Database Administrator to join our Enterprise Information Services (EIS) team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, installing, maintaining, and optimizing SQL Server database instances for departmental and enterprise-wide systems across physical and virtual servers for both on-premises and cloud platforms.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and work closely with the EIS DBA technology team to design, install, maintain, fix, and optimize SQL Server database instances.
  • Act as the DBA representative to all other EIS teams and departments, including Linux/AIX/Windows OS teams, and server and storage hardware/virtualization infrastructure teams.
  • Help coordinate with management to set project goals, requirements, schedules, and provide feedback on performance assessments for EIS DBA team members.
  • Coordinate daily work and long-term projects of the team and lead the team in completion of those goals.
  • Design and implement viable database backup, recovery, and high availability strategies and mechanisms.
  • Audit database features and versions to maintain licensing compliance across all relevant products.
  • Mentor and develop DBA skills for staff through individual and team training sessions.
Requirements:
  • 6+ years of production database administration experience (healthcare sector preferred).
  • Lead experience a plus.
  • Hands-on and strong knowledge of SQL Server Databases (SQL Server 2016 and up).
  • Project management experience.
  • Skills in monitoring, tuning, and administrating Microsoft SQL Server databases.
  • Preferred experience in AWS (RDS, EC2, CloudFormation), Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and SAP HANA.
  • Database Management using storage snapshot technologies (NetApp, EMC).
  • PowerShell, Shell, Python, or other scripting languages.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (preferred).
  • SQL Server certification preferred.
