The Construction Project Manager specializing in Transmission & Distribution (T&D) and Substation projects is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the construction of electrical infrastructure projects. This role involves managing all aspects of the construction process, including schedule, budget, safety, quality, and team performance, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in managing the construction of T&D and substation projects, as well as strong leadership and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Planning & Execution:

    • Develop comprehensive construction plans, schedules, and budgets for T&D and substation projects.
    • Lead project kickoff meetings and ensure that all project objectives and deliverables are clearly communicated to the project team.
    • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and other departments to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Field Operations Management:

    • Oversee daily construction activities on-site, ensuring adherence to plans, specifications, and safety protocols.
    • Manage subcontractors and construction crews, ensuring that work is performed efficiently and to the highest standards.
    • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to monitor progress, safety, and quality.
  • Safety & Compliance:

    • Enforce a strong safety culture, ensuring all project personnel comply with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
    • Conduct safety meetings, toolbox talks, and site safety inspections to mitigate risks and promote safe work practices.
    • Ensure compliance with all environmental, regulatory, and utility standards.
  • Budget & Schedule Management:

    • Monitor project costs, track expenditures, and ensure that the project stays within budget.
    • Identify potential cost overruns or schedule delays and implement corrective actions to keep the project on track.
    • Prepare and submit regular progress reports, change orders, and other documentation as required.
  • Quality Assurance:

    • Work closely with the QA/QC team to ensure that all construction work meets or exceeds quality standards.
    • Address and resolve any issues related to workmanship, materials, or construction methods.
    • Maintain detailed project documentation, including inspection reports, punch lists, and as-built drawings.
  • Stakeholder Communication:

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing regular updates on project status and addressing any concerns.
    • Facilitate coordination meetings with clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals.
    • Manage relationships with regulatory agencies, utilities, and other external stakeholders to ensure project success.
  • Team Leadership:

    • Lead and mentor project teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
    • Evaluate team performance and provide guidance and support to ensure successful project delivery.
    • Manage workforce planning, resource allocation, and logistics to meet project demands.
Qualifications:
  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience:

    • 5+ years of experience in construction management, with a focus on T&D and substation projects.
    • Proven track record of managing the construction of high-voltage transmission lines, substations, or related infrastructure.
    • Experience with utility projects and familiarity with industry standards and practices.
  • Skills:

    • Strong understanding of construction methods, safety regulations, and electrical infrastructure.
    • Proficient in construction management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Primavera P6) and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
    • Strong communication and leadership abilities, with the capability to manage diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Certifications:

    • PMP or similar project management certification is a plus.
    • OSHA 30-hour certification is preferred.
