Job DescriptionJob Description

The Pathology Coordinator manages the communication between patients, family members, care providers, and other healthcare institutions. They act as a liaison between the patient and healthcare personnel by reporting non-urgent pathology results, monitoring and tracking pathology orders and receipt of results, coordinates with pathology laboratories to obtain outstanding results, manages results document import and assignment to appropriate providers, tracks non- treated skin cancers by sending written notification to patients as needed for continuity of care per their results, tracks melanoma diagnoses and performs all state reporting for providers as required.

Essential Functions

· Utilizes EMR system to monitor, track, document and manage pathology results

·Track, document and import pathology results as needed or required

· Answers patient calls, emails, and questions and/or refers to the right professional

· Scan documents into patient charts and send documents out to referring professionals when needed.

· Discusses with patients and families regarding treatments, procedures, and continuing care.

· Provides community resources and referrals for continuing care

· Performs analytical and data entry tasks and maintains reports and state reporting.

· Confidentially manages patient accounts.

· Ensures compliance with professional standards & regulatory requirements.

· Works as a team player to ensure each patient receives the best service possible.

· Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

  • 2 + years of experience in a medical office or dermatology setting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology is a plus.
  • Experience with back medical office duties.

Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using computer systems and basic office software.
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced environment.

  • A customer-focused attitude with a commitment to delivering exceptional service.
  • Ability to handle patient concerns and inquiries with patience and empathy.

Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to spend a great deal of the day walking, standing, moving and manipulating equipment, as well as lifting and moving objects, equipment and supplies. It is reasonable to anticipate lifting 20-25 pounds in any given day.
