Coordinator of Training and Development

Job Title: Coordinator of Training and Development

Work Week: 20 Hours Part-time

FLSA Status: Nonexempt

Reports to: Director of Education Programs

Job Scope/Summary: The Coordinator of Training and Development (CTD) will schedule and facilitate trainings for staff and volunteers required by the PA Coalition Against Domestic Violence (PCADV), the PA Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD), and other employment requirements. The CTD will track and create reports on outcomes of all training and maintain training records for DVCCC.

Responsibilities:

•In partnership with the Director of Education Programs the CTD will train new hires and volunteers on the required PCADV and PCCD training courses.

•In partnership with the Chief Executive Officer the CTD will train all staff on DVCCC policies and procedures.

•The CTD will gather and evaluate information from employees and volunteers on previous training to identify opportunities for professional development and areas that need additional training.

•Attend seminars and meetings to learn new training methods and techniques and use the knowledge to prepare and coordinate future training sessions.

•Market DVCCC training opportunities to employees and volunteers and provide information on training benefits to encourage participation.

•Inform employees and volunteers on scheduled training and track their progress.

•Recommend training materials and methods, order and maintain in-house training equipment and in partnership with the Chief Financial Officer manage the budget for training.

Coordinating Volunteer Responsibilities:

•Develop, promote, and maintain a wide range of volunteer opportunities within the organization.

•Work with volunteers to provide advocacy, direct services, information and referrals to victims.

•Surveying staff regularly to assess needs for volunteer assistance

•Recruit, interview, select, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate volunteers.

•Develop, and maintain volunteer service descriptions for each volunteer assignment.

•Ensure volunteers are staffed to support the various areas of operations, to include DVCCC’s direct services, exhibits at events, special events, development, and marketing communications.

•Recommend the most efficient use of volunteers, appropriate volunteer/supervisory mix, and future workforce needs to support volunteer program operations.

•Conduct and/or arrange for volunteer orientation and training.

•Provide ongoing support and guidance for volunteers: act as a single point of contact for communications; confer with volunteers to resolve grievances and promote cooperation and interest.

•Maintain accurate records and provide timely statistical and activity reports on volunteer participation.

•Manage volunteer policies, procedures, and standards of volunteer service.

•Assess feedback received through comment forms.

•Organize and participate in volunteer recognition programs and special events.

•Evaluate all aspects of volunteer programs to ensure effectiveness and to recommend/implement changes as appropriate

•Works with DVCCC’s individual programs to determine the extent of the services needed for each victim program.

•Build community among volunteers and victims.

•Raise awareness and refer victims to other appropriate resources.

•Ability to operate media equipment and personal computers.

•Knowledge of traditional and modern training methods and techniques.

•Exceptional organization skills, leadership and interpersonal skills.

•Ability to work with a team and pay attention to detail.

•Knowledgeable about learning management systems, instructional design and e-learning platforms.

•Ability to handle multiple assignments and assess and analyze data.

•Strong commitment to the mission and goals of DVCCC, professional work goals and personal development.

•Understanding of issues confronted by victims of abuse.

Education & Training

•Bachelor’s degree in human resources, education or a related field or five years related experience.

•Equivalent combination of education and experience.

•Previous work experience as a Training Coordinator, Training Facilitator, Trainer or a similar role in a work environment is beneficial. Must have a proven track record of conducting successful training programs.

Other Requirements

•Must be willing to work flexible hours to meet program needs and grantor accountability requirements.

•Adhere to all agency policies and procedures (attendance, work hours, paperwork, etc.)

•Child abuse, criminal and FBI clearances as required by the state and DVCCC.

•Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Products.

•Must have transportation to travel.

Training

•Attend a minimum of 20 hours of training annually

•Complete PCADV’S required 45-hour counselor/advocate training and PCCD’s training requirements.

Teamwork

•Fill in the required data collection information. Prepare a monthly progress and challenge report for supervisor.

Physical Requirements:

•Much of the work performed is sedentary in nature yet may require the employee to exert themselves with minimal force and/or be able lift or move light objects associated with the job responsibilities.
