JOB SUMMARY


Supervises Maintenance Technicians in both Rochester and Argos facilities. Inspects and performs routine and complex preventive maintenance to ensure that machines and equipment continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate


B. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


1. Follow all applicable safety policies and procedures

2. Complete all required safety training

3. Perform clean-ups, and maintain area cleanliness

4. Maintain a clean, safe and orderly work area

5. Assist Plant Manager and Supervisor as needed

6. To work as a team with others in plant

7. Work any overtime as needed

8. Uses tools ranging from common hand and power tools, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices

9. Assembles, installs or repairs wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery and equipment

10. Diagnoses mechanical problems and determines how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary

11. Repairs or replaces defective equipment parts, using hand tools and power tools, and reassembles equipment

12. Starts machines and observes mechanical operation to determine efficiency and to detect problems

13. Installs, replaces, or changes machine parts and attachments, according to production specifications

14. Reads work orders and specifications to determine machines and equipment requiring repair or maintenance

15. Sets up and operates machines, and adjusts controls to regulate operations

16. Records type and cost of maintenance or repair work

17. Collaborates with others to repair or move machines, machine parts, or equipment

18. Experience in driving forklift

19. Any and all other tasks as assigned by the Supervisor

20. Your attendance during scheduled work hours is an essential function of this position



C. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises Maintenance Technicians in both Rochester and Argos facilities









D. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Balancing - maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching

2. Bending and stooping - bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist, 1 hours per day, intermittently

3. Climbing – ascending or descending ladders, scaffolding, ramps, poles and other devices using feel and legs and/or hands and arms, 30 minutes per day, intermittently

4. Climbing stairs – ascending or descending stairs to gain access to a building or to move from one floor to another, 15 minutes per day, intermittently

5. Crawling – moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet, 30 minutes per day, intermittently

6. Light carrying - physically transporting items weighing less than 15 pounds from one location to another, 2 hours per day, intermittently

7. Moderate carrying – physically transporting items weighing 15-44 pounds, 2 hours per day, intermittently

8. Heavy carrying – physically transporting items weighing 45 pounds and over, 2 hours per day, intermittently

9. Fingering – picking, pinching or otherwise working primarily with fingers, rather than with the whole hand or arm, 4 hours per day, intermittently

10. Grasping – applying pressure to an object with fingers including thumb and palm, 4 hours per day, intermittently

11. Feeling – perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of the fingertips, 4 hours per day, intermittently

12. Kneeling – bending legs at knees to come to rest on one or both knees, 1-hour per day, intermittently

13. Lifting – raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position–to-position, 30 minutes per day, intermittently

14. Light lifting – raising objects under 15 pounds from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from one position to another, 4 hours per day, intermittently

15. Moderate lifting - raising objects 15-44 pounds from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from one position to another, 2 hours per day, intermittently

16. Heavy lifting – raising objects 45 pounds and over from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from one position to another, 30 minutes per day, intermittently


E. MOBILITY REQUIREMENTS

1. Standing - 8 hours per day

2. Pulling hand over hand – using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion, 15 minutes per day, intermittently

3. Pushing – using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward, or upward, 15-minutes per day, intermittently



4. Reaching above shoulder – extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction, 30-minutes per day, intermittently

5. Walking – moving about on foot, particularly for long distances, 4 hours per day, intermittently

6. Heavy work – exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects – infrequent

7. Very heavy work – exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects – infrequent


F. VISUAL / HEARING ACUITY REQUIREMENTS


1. Visual requirement – employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing, visual inspection involving defects, parts at distance or close to the eyes

2. Visual requirement – employee is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as operate machines, such as lathes, drill presses, power saws, and mills where the seeing job is at or within arm’s reach, performs mechanical or skilled trades tasks for a non-competitive nature, such as maintenance and mechanical responsibilities

3. Visual requirement – employee is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment

4. Hearing requirement - perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. The ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make the discriminations of sounds


G. ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS


1. The employee is subject to environmental conditions. Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes

2. The employee is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities that occur inside and outside

3. The employee is subject to extreme cold. Temperatures typically below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour

4. The employee is subject to extreme heat. Temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour

5. The employee is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the employee to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level

6. The employee is subject to hazards. This includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to high heat and/or exposure to chemicals

7. The employee is subject to atmospheric conditions. One of more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin: fumes, odors, dust, mists, or gases

8. The employee is frequently in close quarters, and other areas that could cause claustrophobia

9. The employee is required to function in narrow aisles or passageways




H. JOB KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


1. Employee will have a minimum of 5-years’ in manufacturing maintenance, with meaningful pneumatic air maintenance

2. Employee must have the ability to count accurately, add, subtract, multiply, divide, and to record balance, and check results for accuracy

3. Employee must have the ability to organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology

4. Employee must have the ability compute, analyze, and interpret numerical data for reporting purposes

5. The ability to organize and prioritize own work schedule on short-term basis

6. The ability to organize and prioritize work schedules of others

7. Employee must have the ability to make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit

8. Employee must have the ability to make decisions which have significant impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside immediate work unit

9. Employee must have the ability to make decisions which have significant impact on the department’s credibility, operations, and services

10. Employee must have the ability to apply common sense in performing job
