Our pain management doctors and staff are a dynamic team of professionals, who excel in keeping our patients healthy and pain free. We are currently looking for a motivated, positive individual to join our Revenue Cycle Management team as a Payment Poster.

Role and Responsibilities

A Revenue Cycle-Payment poster is responsible for reviewing, researching and processing medical records in order to post payments. Must be able to identify appropriate diagnostic codes and modifiers according to Generally Accepted Medical Coding Guidelines, CPT-4; HCPCS; ICD-10 Guidelines; and CMS Correct Coding.

  • Post payments and process refunds.
  • Runs daily reports, researches and corrects errors.
  • Keeps paper and electronic filing current.
  • Navigate insurance company websites.
  • Knows how to find and read EOB’s.
  • Keep updated cash logs.
  • Print and Post checks as needed.
  • Verifies physician participation as well as when and how to bill secondary insurance or patient.
  • Reviews medical record information to post payments appropriately and consult with Supervisor when needed.
  • Works with key internal departments to review and process incoming work.
  • Supports and participates in process and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Stays abreast of industry billing and maintains current certifications.
  • Has an understanding of and is able to utilize reference materials appropriately and efficiently.
  • Uses, protects, and discloses protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards.
  • Corresponds with physicians, insurance companies and patients professionally via email and phone.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

· A high school diploma or equivalent

· Payment Posting: 1 year (Preferred)

· Experience working in a medical, or other health-care office posting payments, required

· Ability to work with a high volume of work while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy

· Data entry experience, required

· Basic Excel knowledge

· Basic math skills

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Team player

Other Skills:

Proficiency in the following areas is preferred:

  • Knowledge of insurance guidelines including HMO/PPO, Medicare, Medicaid, and other payer requirements and systems.
  • Competent use of computer systems, software, and 10 key calculators.
  • Effective communication abilities for phone contacts with insurance payers to resolve issues.
  • Customer service skills for interacting with patients regarding medical claims and payments, including communicating with patients and family members of diverse ages and backgrounds.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment. Being able to triage priorities, delegate tasks if needed, and handle conflict in a reasonable fashion.
  • Problem-solving skills to research and resolve discrepancies, denials, appeals, collections. A calm manner and patience working with either patients or insurers during this process.
  • Knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology likely to be encountered in medical claims.
  • Maintaining patient confidentiality as per the HIPAA
