Role Summary:
The Environmental Controls Specialist is responsible for managing and maintaining all climate control systems within our state-of-the-art greenhouse facility. This role is crucial for ensuring optimal growing conditions through the effective operation of boilers, fans, exhaust systems, blackout curtains, lighting systems, and misters, maintaining appropriate light levels, temperature, humidity, and vapor pressure deficit (VPD).
Key Responsibilities:
  • System Management: Oversee and adjust the environmental control systems to optimize plant health and growth conditions.
  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Perform regular maintenance checks and troubleshoot any issues with environmental control equipment to prevent or resolve interruptions.
  • On-Call Duties: Available 24/7 to address any emergent issues with the environmental systems to ensure continuous operation.
  • Data Monitoring: Regularly monitor and record environmental data, using this information to refine practices and improve system efficiencies.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure all environmental control practices comply with regulatory and safety standards.
  • Collaboration and Training: Work closely with the cultivation team to align environmental conditions with cultivation needs; provide training to staff on the proper use and monitoring of control systems.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in managing greenhouse environmental control systems.
  • Strong technical proficiency with HVAC, electrical systems, and climate control technologies.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations effectively at any time.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Expectations:
  • Uphold the highest standards of accountability and responsibility, ensuring the greenhouse environment is consistently optimal for plant health.
  • Proactive in staying updated with the latest technologies and methods in environmental control.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • This position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and work in various environmental conditions including hot and cold temperatures, ensuring the ability to handle physical tasks in diverse climates
