Outside Sales Representative - Remote (Can be located in IL, IN, OH or MI)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Outside Sales Representative to join our client's team in a remote role based in the IL, IN, OH or MI area. Reporting to the General Manager, this position is responsible for driving sales growth in the fastener manufacturing industry and vertical markets such as aerospace, automotive, industrial and medical industries. The ideal candidate will be skilled in promoting new applications of engineered products and competing effectively in established market applications.

Essential Job Functions

  • Utilize strategic sales processes to drive growth, customer retention, market penetration, and profitability.
  • Organize and manage proposal preparation, pricing establishment, and quotation activities.
  • Manage sales pipeline to drive new business volume and profitability.
  • Maintain and service established accounts, providing contractual support.
  • Develop and grow commercial relationships to identify and qualify new business opportunities.
  • Assist with advertising and sales promotion programs and participate in trade shows and industry activities.
  • Produce effective verbal and written communication for activities and sales reports, customer correspondence, etc.
  • Collaborate with Inside and Outside Sales Representatives to manage and expand the customer base.

Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to prospect, nurture, sell, and close new sales opportunities in technical markets.
  • Sufficient technical/engineering knowledge to understand and address complex customer needs in the manufacturing industry.
  • Experience working effectively within an established Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool is preferred.
  • Ability to manage the quoting process to meet customer requirements.
  • Strategic alliances with key contacts in the manufacturing industry are beneficial.
  • Proven ability to identify and develop a sales funnel of new opportunities, including cold calling, prospecting at trade shows, and following up on marketing leads.
  • Strong organizational and self-management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to create and deliver effective presentations to customers.
  • Serve as the communications liaison between customers and manufacturing locations.
  • Willingness to travel up to 35%.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BS or BA) preferred.
  • 5+ years of technical selling experience in manufacturing; experience with engineered products preferred.
