We are seeking a Virginia Statewide Traffic Management Center (TMC) Operations Training Manager to become an integral part of our team You will design, implement, and participate in training programs to improve individual and organizational performance.

RESPONSIBILITIES as related to TMC Floor Operations:

  • Development of in-person and electronic training programs focused on individual performance
  • Develop training initiatives and strategies to improve organizational performance
  • Development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures and Quick Reference Guides; assure alignment to training material
  • Maintain training checklists and records
  • Survey employees and managers to determine training needs and desired results
  • Preparation and delivery of reports on training status and results (report and metric formats) to mid and upper-level management
  • Design and implementation of an operations employee performance auditing program
  • Coordination and leadership of regional training support staff
  • Participate an employee award and recognition program based on successful completion of initial and recurrent training programs
  • Training facilitation to include materials development, curriculum design and, in some cases, delivery
  • Other ad-hoc employee proficiency initiatives as assigned by the Project Management Team

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in education or related field or an equivalent amount of practical experience in TMC Floor Operations and employee supervision
  • State Driver’s License in good standing
  • Experience in adult learning training program development
  • Competent in Microsoft Office products
  • Technical writing skills to include grammar editing and content flow
  • Innovative approach to training program design and delivery
  • Project management experience (a plus)
  • Public speaking and presentation skills (a plus)
  • Time management experience
  • Flexible schedule (training relates to a 24/7/365 operation)

WORK CONDITIONS:

  • Self-supervision and team collaboration
  • Controlled, indoor environment
  • Fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
  • Travel to statewide offices (~8 to 10% of time)
