ABOUT THE POSITION

Join us at Distinct Tax Consulting as our first Tax and Accounting (T&A) Supervisor You'll play a key role in our growing team of 5, supporting the CEO and managing day-to-day accounting and tax tasks for our clients and managing the workload of the other Tax and Accounting professionals. We are searching for a professional with QuickBooks Pro skills, tax and accounting know-how, and ideally, experience in a similar agency. FLSA Status: Exempt | Full-Time

Reports To: CEO

Compensation: $75,000 to $80,000

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee and manage the workload of accounting and tax staff, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tasks.

  • Utilize QuickBooks Pro and other tax software to maintain financial records, prepare reports, and reconcile accounts.

  • Review and analyze financial data to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.

  • Prepare and review accurate tax returns for individuals and business clients, identifying opportunities for tax optimization.

  • Serve as a resource for staff, providing guidance and training on accounting and tax principles.

  • Collaborate with the CEO to develop strategies for business growth and improvement.

  • Assist with special projects and initiatives as assigned.

  • Present a positive experience to clients and suppliers in all communications.

  • Answer client inquiries regarding accounting and tax matters.

  • Ensure up-to-date knowledge of accounting and tax standards and compliance while maintaining organizational policies and procedures.

  • Function as the primary backup and support for the CEO.

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE | SKILLS | EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree, required; focus in Accounting preferred

  • Five (5) or more years of accounting or tax related experience, required

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or tax preparation, required

  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Pro and Microsoft Office Suite

  • Experience working with public, private or private equity companies and/or industries required

  • Demonstrated experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, QuickBooks or SAP, required

  • Ability to quickly interpret and analyze financial statements

  • Enjoys working in a small organization and wearing many hats

  • Strong understanding of tax laws and regulations

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to effectively manage a team and prioritize tasks

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills

  • Prior experience working in a tax or accounting agency is preferred

  • Proficiency in GAAP concepts

  • Working knowledge of ADP and other payroll systems

  • Advanced expertise with Excel spreadsheets

  • Resides in the College Park, GA commuting area

This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and as well as basic office supplies and equipment. Up to 35% national travel may be required.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional services industry experience

  • Public Accounting experience

  • Experience with MS Excel at advanced level

  • CPA

  • Ability to travel minimum of 35%
