We’re searching for a Payroll Specialist to report to the Controller and be based in Columbus. This person will exemplify the talent, hustle, guts, resilience, and empathy for which we recruit, demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication abilities, as well as superb organizational skills, detail orientation, problem solving, and collaboration, and thrive in the creation, execution, and maintenance of smart, efficient, effective systems and processes within Payroll.

This position is responsible for:

  • Preparing and processing bi-weekly payroll for all company employees using ADP Workforce Now

  • Responding to employee payroll inquiries or concerns and provide accurate payroll information for employees and management

  • Preparing and maintaining standard and ad hoc reports as part of the bi-weekly payroll process and as requested by management

  • Reviewing and approving 401k plan participant enrollment and otherwise managing 401k administration

  • Running payroll journal entries and recording entries into GL, including payroll related payments outside of bi-weekly payroll process

  • Supporting annual financial and 401k audits

  • Processing wage garnishments and other deductions

  • Coordinating and ensuring minimum wage compliance

  • Administering and auditing bonus programs, compensation events and referral bonuses

  • Process accurate wage programs in certain cities/states

  • Preparing expedited off-cycle payroll checks as needed

  • Coordinating delivery of annual W-2 statements to employees

  • Handling payroll tax notices and coordinating with ADP to ensure tax notices are resolved in a timely manner

  • Reviewing time cards and verifying tip amounts

  • Building, maintaining and auditing time off policies and assignments in ADP

  • Processing payroll and benefits mail and responding to federal and state wage reporting requests

  • Running wage and earnings reports and providing accurate information to support HR initiatives

  • Provide ADP Workforce Now power user support and assist with troubleshooting/problem solving

  • Guiding and directing managers on effective Time & Attendance and Payroll system use on a day-to-day basis

  • Assisting with the development and maintenance of manager training, SOPs and tools related to Time & Attendance and Payroll system use

Qualified applicants will have the following education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field preferred

  • 3 - 5 years of related experience

  • ADP Workforce Now experience (preferred)

  • Strong Excel skills

  • Keen attention to detail

  • Exceptional judgment, interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills

  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information

  • Google Workspace experience helpful
