Key Responsibilities:
- Respond promptly and professionally to requests from management, staff, or physicians, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
- Follow department policies and procedures to ensure accurate and timely claim resolution and address patient inquiries and insurance issues.
- Participate actively in team meetings.
- Utilize worklists to review and analyze account balances, facilitating payment collection for medical services rendered.
- Use multiple system applications to review and update patient information, as well as research and resolve outstanding accounts receivable balances.
- Assist in analyzing claims resolution and provide feedback to management for process improvements; follow up with insurance companies to ensure appropriate payment, resolve denials, correct claims, and appeal as necessary.
- Serve as a liaison with internal and external customers, offering support in claims and receivables resolution within a high-volume environment.
- Contact patients and guarantors to secure necessary billing information.
- Document accounts with clear and concise notes, following departmental procedures; review and respond to correspondence and inquiries received.
- Meet and exceed team productivity and quality standards.
- Take the lead on special projects and participate in staff training.
- Review complex claims issues for resolution and recommend process improvements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in medical billing/claims.
- Working knowledge of claim submission (UB04/HCFA 1500) and third-party payers.
- Familiarity with procedural and ICD-10 coding.
- Basic understanding of medical billing terminology.
- Detail-oriented and organized with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent client service, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general office equipment.
- Experience with medical billing software is preferred.
- Insurance follow-up experience, especially in resolving rejected/denied medical claims; experience in Home Care is a plus.
Pay Rate: $18 per hour.
