In this role, you will be responsible for submitting and resolving medical claims of moderate to high complexity. The ideal candidate will stay up-to-date with governmental and third-party billing requirements, as well as follow-up and appeal processes, ensuring compliant billing and claim resolution for both inpatient and outpatient services across all wholly-owned facilities and physician entities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Respond promptly and professionally to requests from management, staff, or physicians, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
  • Follow department policies and procedures to ensure accurate and timely claim resolution and address patient inquiries and insurance issues.
  • Participate actively in team meetings.
  • Utilize worklists to review and analyze account balances, facilitating payment collection for medical services rendered.
  • Use multiple system applications to review and update patient information, as well as research and resolve outstanding accounts receivable balances.
  • Assist in analyzing claims resolution and provide feedback to management for process improvements; follow up with insurance companies to ensure appropriate payment, resolve denials, correct claims, and appeal as necessary.
  • Serve as a liaison with internal and external customers, offering support in claims and receivables resolution within a high-volume environment.
  • Contact patients and guarantors to secure necessary billing information.
  • Document accounts with clear and concise notes, following departmental procedures; review and respond to correspondence and inquiries received.
  • Meet and exceed team productivity and quality standards.
  • Take the lead on special projects and participate in staff training.
  • Review complex claims issues for resolution and recommend process improvements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in medical billing/claims.
  • Working knowledge of claim submission (UB04/HCFA 1500) and third-party payers.
  • Familiarity with procedural and ICD-10 coding.
  • Basic understanding of medical billing terminology.
  • Detail-oriented and organized with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent client service, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general office equipment.
  • Experience with medical billing software is preferred.
  • Insurance follow-up experience, especially in resolving rejected/denied medical claims; experience in Home Care is a plus.
