We're looking for a Machinist/CNC Set-up and Programmer with a strong work ethic, who loves machining, is not afraid to work with their hands and is an A-star team player. You will be instrumental in producing high-quality, close-tolerance parts for critical applications in the aerospace and defense industries.

What You Will Do:

  • Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and
    tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for
    subsequent machining.
  • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines
    such as mills, lathes, jig borers, and grinders.
  • Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and
    angle of cut, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
  • Set up and operate the machine on a trial run to verify the accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
  • Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust
    machine controls or control media as required.
  • Verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications using standard metrology equipment.
  • Fabricate and assemble new or modified mechanical components or assemblies for products such as industrial
    equipment and machinery, power equipment, servo systems, machine tools, and measuring instruments.
  • Fit and assemble parts into a complete assembly.
  • Verify dimensions and alignment of assembly.
  • Install machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and test the operation of unit to
    ensure functionality and performance.
  • Any additional duties that may be assigned by the supervisor.

What You Will Need:

  • High School Diploma or GED. Associate's degree in Industrial Arts of Metal Fabrication or equivalent. 
  • 3+ years experience as a machinist in an industrial toolroom.
  • Working knowledge of ANSI Y14.5 G.D.&T. standards.
  • Working knowledge of standard metrology tools and inspection methods.
  • Excellent toolmaking and/or machine troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work and communicate well in a team environment.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, professional journals,
    technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited
    standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or
    schedule form.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane, solid geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Physical Demands:

  • The position requires work near moving mechanical parts approximately 80% of the time.
  • The position requires lifting up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis.
  • The noise level is moderate (examples: machine shop with various machines in operation).
