POSITION DESCRIPTION

This is an experienced level position based at Taylor Shellfish in Shelton, Washington. This position is responsible for performing basic maintenance duties on shellfish processing equipment and facilities. 


AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY 

  • Perform various PM and repair work on processing equipment and other company assets,
  • Building and grounds maintenance, repair and upkeep,
  • Performs operator maintenance on tools and equipment common to the trade,
  • Required to do other tasks as needed.

 

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES

  • Professional conduct with all Taylor Shellfish employees and the general public,
  • Perform quality work on company assets in an efficient manner,
  • Demonstrate a commitment to all facets of the role, working towards the achievement of the company goals and objectives,
  • Awareness and compliance of company policies and procedures,
  • Promote & maintain a positive, efficient, and cohesive work environment.

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Must possess & maintain a valid Washington driver’s license with clean driving record,
  • Experienced in construction trades: carpentry, concrete, basic plumbing & electrical, etc.,
  • Heavy equipment operating experience,
  • Must be able to read and understand; technical manuals, standard operating procedures, schematics, and measuring tapes,
  • Availability to work: days, nights, weekends, on call, and travel as needed,
  • Regular, reliable, predictable attendance required,
  • Ability to work independently at time with little direction,
  • Strong and sound decision-making skills,
  • Excellent verbal/written skills,
  • Well organized and detail oriented,
  • Must maintain positive company morale.
  • Ability to use computer well enough for the job,
  • Daily work order updates (Mpulse).

 

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, JOB & SAFETY REQUIREMENTS  

  • Must be 21 years or older,
  • 3 years minimum of applicable experience preferred,
  • Formal training from an accredited technical college or trade school or completion on an equivalent multi-year apprenticeship program preferred,
  • CDL Preferred, but not required,
  • Must complete and maintain in-house forklift, tractor, first aid, safety, and H.R., trainings.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to sit, stand and/or walk on uneven ground up to 16 hours per day,
  • Employee is required to stoop, bend, kneel, twist, and squat 100% percent of the time,
  • Employee must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. (Occasionally required to exert up to 125 lbs. of force),
  • The vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus,
  • Must be able to speak and hear well enough to communicate with co-workers, supervisors, and managers,
  • Must be able to use hands for repetitive simple grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation,
  • Must have agility and balance to safely climb on machines, boats, etc.,
  • Must be able to drive up to 11 hours per day to multiple locations.
