Summary:

The Director of Accounting is responsible for establishing the financial status by developing, implementing, and overseeing systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting financial information. This role ensures that the accounting operations are conducted efficiently and effectively while adhering to the company’s financial policies and regulatory requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

1. Lead and manage the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring accurate and timely financial transactions.

2. Monitor, analyze, and report financial data to produce detailed financial statements, balance sheets, and other financial reports.

3. Develop and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and principles to maintain financial integrity and compliance.

4. Coordinate and manage the completion of annual audits, working closely with external auditors to ensure accuracy and compliance.

5. Continuously improve accounting systems and procedures, identifying and implementing corrective actions where necessary.

6. Assign projects, direct accounting staff, and monitor progress to ensure compliance with company standards and financial accuracy.

7. Achieve financial accounting objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing budgets, and managing expenditures.

8. Establish and maintain a comprehensive system of fiscal records and files to ensure proper documentation and traceability of all transactions.

9. Perform additional tasks as assigned by the CEO, contributing to the overall success of the company.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

The Director of Accounting will manage employees within the Accounting Department. This includes overseeing their work, providing guidance and training, and ensuring that all tasks are completed in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable laws.

Qualifications:

To perform this role successfully, the individual must demonstrate proficiency in all key responsibilities and possess the following qualifications:

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification is a plus.

• A minimum of four to six years of relevant experience in accounting or financial management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Experience in leading a team and managing accounting functions within an organization.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

• Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel), bookkeeping software, and accounting principles.

• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new management software and IT systems.

• Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make informed decisions.

• Excellent leadership and negotiation skills with a proven track record of managing teams effectively.

• Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy.

• Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and effectively to non-financial stakeholders
