We are looking for a Full Time Event Operations Manager to join our team We service clients within a 50 mile radius of Washington, DC. 

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Events Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing back of house event-related matters, managing the execution and logistics for all events leaving Taste Gourmet’s brands: DC Taste & B.Lin Catering. This includes overseeing event operating logistics including scheduling & handling deliveries, vehicles, loading & unloading, organization, ordering, and BOH staffing. This position will work closely and in cooperation with the Director of Events, COO, and Executive Chef/ Kitchen Manager. This position requires work in the evening and weekends, as needed.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Schedule and oversee Event Operations team and contracted delivery drivers for Taste Gourmet (DC Taste & B.Lin Catering brands)
  • Assist COO in implementing new policies and procedures (train & manage performance of event OPS team members on new policies and procedures)
  • Ordering of all beverages, disposables, small equipment, etc, and oversee inventory management for Taste Gourmet (DC Taste & B.Lin Catering brands)
  • Food & Beverage Expo: Work expo station as well manage and train team for Expo
  • Manage and set goals for each individual team member
  • Foster a strong team and work environment for the team
  • Act as the main liaison between Planning Team and Event OPS team
  • Manager on Duty phone line
  • Create event packlists (BOH and general service equipment - bus trays, bus tubs, water pitchers, etc) for Taste Gourmet (DC Taste & B.Lin Catering brands)
  • Maintain and oversee company vehicles including cleanliness, up-to date maintenance, parking, and renting additional vehicles as needed
  • Assist the Event Operations team on staging, pack and unpacking for events when needed
  • Do deliveries when needed
  • Manage, hire, and train BOH contractors
  • Record BOH times in TPP for events and delivery drivers
  • ADP time review for payroll

 

SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act and work as BOH lead for events as necessary (DC Taste & B.Lin Catering)
  • Printing of labels, pack lists, and event worksheets (as needed)
  • Meetings and reviews for Event Operation team members
  • Talk with clients as needed
  • Schedule BOH staff for events for Taste Gourmet (DC Taste & B.Lin Catering brands). Recruit new BOH staff for events

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong communication skills, particularly in communicating client expectations to the BOH contractors
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Spanish
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Ability to fulfill on-call needs within the team
  • Ability to effectively juggle multiple projects at once while focusing on the big picture
  • Working knowledge of Total Party Planner or other comparable event planning software
  • Working knowledge of Google Suite and Microsoft office or similar products
  • Ability to lift 40lbs at once

 

Experience

  • Must have at least two years management/supervisory experience
  • At least two (2) years of catering operations or comparable experience highly preferred
