Are you a self-starter and motivated person interested in launching your sales career in the agriculture industry? Join the Chesapeake Agriculture Innovation Center and our dynamic team dedicated to positively impacting farmers and value-added producers in the Delmarva Region. This position requires traveling 2 to 3 days a week to attend agriculture-related events and meet with farmers and service providers. This entry-level position will help you gain valuable experience in sales, regardless of future industry. Although it is a starting role, we are seeking a proactive self-starter who can work independently and doesn’t need constant supervision.

With us, you will meet influential Ag industry players, engage with hundreds of farmers, and make a tangible difference. You will learn how to work with a team that is 100% remote. We will provide a comprehensive suite of tools and systems to track your progress and determine your performance against your targets. You will be responsible for recruiting and filling out our center's programs and services available to farmers.

Responsibilities:

  • Attend industry events, including farmers markets, conferences, trade shows, community gatherings, and farm visits on a weekly basis to represent CAIC. The objective is to network, promote our programs, and generate new leads for our services.
  • Enter data into a tracking spreadsheet and HubSpot CRM to keep track of all new leads and potential clients. Continuously update both systems to ensure all leads are frequently followed up with, and targets are met.
  • Engage in calling and email outreach to prospective clients, including farmers, value-added producers, aquaculture producers, and service providers. The goal is to articulate the benefits of CAIC’s resources, training, and consulting and get them to register for our programs.
  • Review the tracking spreadsheet with the Operations Manager during a stand-up meeting to plan and take coordinated actions for the day.
  • Ensure that weekly, monthly, and quarterly registration goals are met to fill each program and service to capacity.
  • Provide our clients with a high-quality and engaging experience from initial awareness of CAIC to registration in our programs.
  • Collaborate with the administrative team providing images and video content for use on social media. Utilize social media platforms to attract new leads for our programs.
  • Actively post and promote on the AgriBiz Hub community a (lead acquisition tool).
  • Lead and expand the CAIC Ambassador Program, also referred to as the CAIC Squad. A group of volunteers who receive benefits from the center in exchange for promoting our programs in their communities and growing the AgriBiz Hub community.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of personal experience in agriculture. Examples include family farm involvement, formal agriculture education, or hands-on work at a farm.
  • Proficiency with basic software and technology including MS Office Suite, Google Drive, smartphones, etc.
  • Access to a personal computer
  • Proficiency with data management systems (preferably Hubspot)
  • Dependable and resilient self-starter with an interest in taking on new challenges and overcoming obstacles with little supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability in networking, customer service, and sales.
  • Good listening, verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to present information clearly and concisely to farmers
  • Own a reliable vehicle to travel 2-3 times every week in Maryland, Delaware, Virginia and DC.
