Accountant / Assistant Controller

We are looking for a responsible and detail-oriented person to work under the direction of the Controller and assist with the preparation of financial statements, budget reports, and internal control systems. The assistant controller's duties include preparing invoices, reviewing accounts payable/receivable, reconciling accounts, and assisting with financial audits. You must be able to work independently, be well organized, detail-oriented, and multitask.
Assistant Controller Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing and consolidating financial statements and reports.
- Assist with the development and evaluation of budgets and preparing budget reports.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable, identifying discrepancies, and reconciling accounts.
- Support the accounting department with all aspects of the general ledger.
- Ensure strict compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Prepare and manage accounts using various software programs.
- Prepare and assist with audits.
- Assist with billing and preparation of various performance reports.
- Assist in the preparation of various special reports as directed.
- Delegate accounting tasks to junior accounting staff.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.
- Follow regulation changes and compile reports regarding compliance issues, standards, and accounting practices.
Job Requirements:
- Degree in Accounting
- At least three years experience as an assistant controller, accountant, or similar role.
- Understanding of GAAP and relevant financial accounting regulations.
- Strong computer skills and knowledge of accounting software programs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills/Strong math and accounting skills
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Well organized and proactive, and must be able to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Experience with Acumatica (accounting software), BQE CORE, Timeslips (billing software), or comparable software.
