Basic Function

Reporting to the Senior Director, Engineering and working closely with the Engineering Coordinator, this position troubleshoots, repairs and performs preventative maintenance on various systems that include but are not limited to HVAC systems, boilers, plumbing, electrical and equipment. May be required to perform other related duties such as light construction including framing, insulating, dry walling, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, painting, patching, finish work and be an acumen for safety.

Delegating tasks to engineering teams. Supervising staff training as well as equipment installation. Performing quality control checks on all systems and products.

Responsibilities

  • Assure work is being performed safely in a quality manner
  • Manager day-to-day activities of all engineers and vendors
  • Provide the Engineering Coordinator with priorities for the daily schedule
  • Performs troubleshooting and makes repairs as needed
  • Guide and direct on-site vendors
  • Perform preventative maintenance requests (PM’s)

Ideal Experience

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills in English verbally and written
  • Must have at least four years’ experience leading a team of engineering staff with expertise in electrical, mechanical, and carpentry
  • Must have a strong mechanical aptitude
  • Industrial HVAC experience with chillers and air handlers
  • Minimum of 2 years of industrial HVAC, plumbing and mechanical experience in a commercial office building
  • Must have at least 2 years’ experience in maintenance repairs
  • Building Automation Controls experience, a plus
  • Strong electrical experience with troubleshooting and repair a plus
  • Understanding of As-built drawings, MEP drawings and electrical schematics
  • Ability to communicate clearly and explain technical issues in layman’s terms
  • Must have the ability to work independently, plan effectively and prioritize
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Must be able to work a flexible work schedule including nights, weekends, and some holidays.

Desired Qualifications

  • Post high school vocational or trade school training in plumbing, electrical repair, HVAC, carpentry or construction.
  • EPA HVAC Certification
  • Experience with a Building Management Software system and a Maintenance Management Software system

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stop, reach, stand, walk, lift, pull, push, grasp, communicate, and use repetitive motions.
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee may frequently lift and or move 50 pounds of materials.
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee may frequently climb and work from a ladder or lift and/or work in confined spaces.
  • The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from multiple people and interact with the public and other staff.
